My pcos acne is getting my down. I can’t seem to get a grip of it. I am not on the pill but have been prescribed Yasmin. What route would be best to explore ?

Any pcos any stories welcome!

Hi Kittykat, I can understand it getting you down, I had lovely skin as a teenager but as an adult, awful!

The only thing that seems to have helped me (and might just be a total coincidence) is taking vitamin D tablets. I don't understand why but since starting them my skin has cleared up dramatically.

Good luck! Xx

Hi there I was diagnosed with PCOs in my 20's and then I went on the combined pill to clear my skin. I came off the pill last yr, my skin has deteriorated (I turn 40 this yr) so I am assuming I still have PCOS. I need to go to the Dr to have this confirmed. How is it diagnosed? Do you have to have an ultrasound? Thanks Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, the doctor may diagnose it if you have a number of the symptoms (acne, irregular periods, hirsutism, weight gain) and i think its usually confirmed by blood tests (to check hormone levels) and/or an ultrasound. Good luck! Xx

Thank you for getting back to me. I only have bad skin no other symptoms. I will go to the Dr. Thanks again :)

My doctor prescribed me an antibiotic for my skin which worked wonders it's called erythromycin. I'm also taking inositol to lower lh/testosterone levels which plays a part in the hormonal acne.

I have been on the Yasmin (aka Lucette) pill for about 10 yrs. I was going to be given Roaccutane but had to take a pill beforehand. The pIll cleared up my skin very quickly. I decided to stop taking it last yr as I am soon turning 40 so I thought it was best to come off, my skin has really deteriorated. So I have been trying CBD and it reduced it but I am still having issues. So I have gone back on the pill but I am going to start taking 10% CBD as I am too old to be on the combined pill. I have read the single hormone can actually make skin worse. I found this article the other day which you may find interesting google.com/amp/s/www.smartf...

There is a lot of really interesting advice and for acne there is also a recommended supplement which may help. Worth a try. Hope this helps you. Cheryl
