When to take a test?

So I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS for a number of years now, I average a period approximately every 8 months. Me and my partner decided not to use contraception and if we fell pregnant naturally it would be brilliant, no matter what the timing.

So I had a period 5 weeks ago, and about 5 days ago, I started with sore breasts, some stomach cramps like period pains, I felt sick a couple of mornings, and I’ve waited, and no period has come.

I’m wondering how long I should leave it until I take a pregnancy test. It’s heart breaking when you think you’re pregnant to get a negative, so I want to make sure that if I am pregnant, that I take the test at the right time to get a true positive result.

Do I wait until the end of the week? Or take one now?

How long should I expect a period to come after having sore breast and a few cramps?

Sorry for the long post! I’m not used to regular or even periods at all so I’m a total beginner when it comes to knowing what happens when I have one!

Thanks in advance!!!

The problem is period symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are actually very similar, I had period pain for 7 months of my pregnancy!

I also found when TTC you can believe things that aren't really there as well as you are hoping it will be pregnancy.

The only way to know is to test. Fingers crossed for you
