Recently had a diagnostic laparoscopy consultant has said
- My womb is clear of endometriosis/No scarring
One of my blood tests came back low he has prescribed metamorfin to help with ovulation and also to help speed up my metabolism which will help me to loose weight as i have gained a lot in a short period of time and have been eating healthier/exercising and gained weight whilst doing so.
So my questions are:
1. Experiences with metamorfin? Will it help with weight loss? He has prescribed a 500mg tablet he has said one a day which i can increase to two on a repeat prescription has anyone got any personal experiences with this?
2. Any eating habits/exercise habits that other PCOS sufferers have found beneficial and could food ideas be given?
3. I have found that when I eat spicy foods and bread i experience immense pain and bleeding has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks any general tips on managing life with pcos will also be greatly accepted.

Do you mean metformin ? This is primarily a diabetes drug, have you been tested for insulin resistance ? Metformin can cause awful side effects (upset tum) and their is a slow release version. There are differing opinions on how useful it is, our Verity endocrinologists believed that often the awful side effects of metformin caused weight loss which helped periods return (remember a period does not mean you are ovulating though).
The only diet that ever worked for me and I have kept it off for 10 years now is theanswertopcos diet - over 1500 babies have been conceived with ladies following that diet. I wasnt TTC but two ladies lost 7 stone at the same time as me and both got pregnant naturally.
Thank you. I will have a look at this diet. Yes he didn’t actually say I have an insulin resistance. He said do you struggle to lose weight? And I said yes and to thatxhe prescribed them x
My doctor suggested this without even checking my blood or anything like that. I am a bit funny about it as a diabetic medicine and I do not want to become reliant on it long term.
Surely there are other tablets which aid the weight loss.
I am in a bit of an odd position, took up rugby and gym and running, lost weight then started lifting and contesting in the scrums and piled weight on. Less wobble though and more muscle. My diet has always been good, lots of veg. And over the summer I am dropping carbs to try and see if there is an affect. There may be training days where I will add carbs as I know a lot of it is HIIT. If you want to try the exercise thing, I can highly recommend the couch 2 5k. I can run for 12 mins now.
Weight loss is important but I have had more than one personal trainer say take measurements. Look for the small differences as sometimes you do retain water, but lose from hips or waist. A healthy lifestyle, eating the right amount and the right things, drinking plenty of water and looking after yourself is very important. I am classed as obese and enjoy giving the doctor my food and exercise diary.
Overall I think go with what you are comfortable with. Do not take medications without having a good look into them first on sensible sites such as the NHS and here. Ask your doctor all about them, and the pharmacist too.
As for your third part.... I would check with the doctor. I have never had that.
