Hi, so I had the laparoscopy surgery and ovarian drilling in March, I only just had my follow up appointment, and I have had regular cycles however, nothing seems to be happening, I asked the doctor about ivf and he said I wouldn’t qualify under the NHS because my partner has a child from a previous relationship, well I say child he’s 19, I just want to know if this is a fact Because it doesn’t seem fair that I don’t qualify it’s not as if I had a child?
And should they not offer clomid etc I’ve never had clomid, only medication I’ve had is metformin.
Please help so I know what to do when I go for my next appointment in October.

Yes I have heard that lots of times from ladies whose partner has a child from a previous relationship. I agree that it is unbelievably unfair.
You should still qualify for initial fertility treatment though like clomid - ladies who have had a previous child qualify for this just not for IVF etc.
Look at the NICE guidelines for PCOS as it may help
Are you actually ovulating though as a period doesnt mean you are - I had relatively regular periods but rarely ovulated.
Thanks I will look into this. Regarding ovulation they said that I was in the middle of ovulation during the surgery, but I use the ovulation sticks and they mostly say that I’m not, I’m going to do blood test to check my hormone levels, but my follow up appointment won’t until October.
the sticks do not work for pcos ladies generally so may be worth looking at the fertilityfriends website and taking your temperature is the only accurate way. I would also ask if your partner can have a sperm check as well as it may have been good before but may not be now as 1/3 of fertility issues are men.
Well, yes! I can relate it. I'm also a PCOS patient. Clomid is pretty effective than metaformin. Don't hesitate, if you can. Just go for it! I hope you do conceive. So, yeah! That's how it goes! Best of luck! STICKY DUST
