I was only diagnosed with pcos after a hystertomy and two further ops to remove remaining part of ovary due to cysts.
No one ever told me I suffered from this even though I had symptoms With erratic hormone problems and very light periods. One tip which certainly worked for me. I got pregnant three times straight after coming off pill and never any other time. Nearly 70 now and just had a small stroke and am border line diabetic which I am now told is due to pcos as it causes these long term risks which are laid down from birth. So for anyone with this illness please make sure you are monitored when young (I had a chloestral of 6 when 28 and 8.5 stone) pretty annoyed these things could have been prevented so be your own doctor and insist on help with these side effects before it's too late. Don't think women are given same help with high chloestral in the same way as men so speak up and make sure you are looked after! If I can help even a small amount of women avoid the problems I am now faced with I will be happy!

thank you for this, I thought it would get better after I had a baby. I've always had good cholesterol levels and have lost weight and I like to think I have a healthy lifestyle
I didn't realise I had a high chloestral problem until I had a BUPA all over test. I was never overweight, still lead a very active life at 70 and work in a large family business fulll time. One thing I have suffered from all my life since puberty is migraine and travelling with my husband who was a professional sportsman I spent a lot of time prostate and with Severe headaches and sickness and now realise this was due to the pcos as they always occurred with periods or when not eating regularly due to the insulin inefficiency from pcos If I had known I had this illness something could have been done and I wouldn't have had a life blighted by migraine and the recent stroke and diagnosis of diabetes I have recently been told about. I hope anyone who thinks they might have pcos gets tested and treated so they can lead a normal life. I never let these things stop me from being totally involved in everything but truly wish I had known the reason for all my problems. I really hope with modern tests women are looked after better than I was but have learnt from experience you have to fight to get the help you need. Really do hope this helps young people to be vigilant about themselves!
