PCOS and Reflexology

Hey guys,

I haven't posted in a while but I just had to share this with you all. I had heard great things about reflexology from lots of different people in regards to fertility ect ect. I'm a nurse and whilst I see the benefits of holistic therapies for my patients I find it hard to believe they will benefit me in any way. I had also seen a local beautician was trained in fertility reflexology. I have been TTC for two years. I have not had a full period in those two years and each ovulation test I had done was negative. Of course I was feeling awful, useless, depressed and just fed up in general. I had started to give up. I had seen a gynaecologist but they seem to fob me off due to my age and NHS waiting times are a nightmare!

I decided I had nothing to lose. Thought I'd get a few sessions of reflexology and see what happened. For twenty pound it was thee most relaxing hour. Lying under a warm blanket having my feet rubbed (and no it didn't tickle, which I was afraid of. I didn't want to kick her in the face Haha). Afterwards she explained to me what she could feel on my feet, she was able to tell me that I had asthma and migraines and problems with my sinuses. I was very impressed at this point as I didn't believe she would be able to tell me anything. In regards to fertility she said she felt very little that would prevent me conceiving. I was a bit tender over the area of my ankles that correspond with my uterus and that was all. When I was leaving she explained it would take a few months to get any results but if nothing else it should help me relax and help with my mood and anxiety.

Exactly one week later, I had a period!! It sounds so silly but I kept going to the bathroom to make sure it hadn't disappeared and was genuinely delighted to tell my friends and my husband. It was my first full, heavy flow, 5 day period in two years!! I actually couldn't believe it. I had another appointment booked the following week and I couldn't wait to tell her. She was shocked herself and very very happy. She said I had made her week! She felt that maybe there had been a blockage along the tubes and the reflexology may be helping the same.

I'm under no illusions that because I had a period I'm magically going to fall pregnant this month but I am keeping an eye on my fertility tracker and sure it's fun trying ;).

I can honestly say I fully recommend trying reflexology. Even to just have an hour to yourself to relax!

I would love to hear from others who are thinking of trying it, who have tried it and of course success stories involving it!

Also feel free to ask questions :)

Thanks for reading! <3

I am positive I conceived Noah after weekly sessions of reflexology as my period arrived almost to the hour which had never happened before. First IUI failed, 2nd I conceived and the only difference was the reflexology so I am a great believer in it.

Fingers crossed things keep going well for you.

Do you reckon that started your ovulation? We've been trying to conceive for a few months but no luck and I don't really want to start on the fertility treatment yet..! (Although to be fair the sex isn't every other day like I've heard it should be!) so would love there to be another option I could try first 😊

I'm so pleased to hear of your positive results. It really makes me excited and gives me hope for the future. I also attend weekly and have had three sessions in total so far.

This thread is interesting! Never tried it myself, but May have to give it a go...! 😊

It's honestly worth a try, what have you got to lose? It can help with other medical conditions or relaxation in general!

This sounds interesting. My only concern is finding reputable people who do this.

I was lucky enough that a local beautician has had the specialist training. It would be worth asking your local beauticians if they do reflexology and if they have undergone the course for fertility speciality reflexology. X
