Whatever is used it will always come back, it's just easier to learn to accept that and I know it's not easy but not much we can do. I tried creams, bleach and wax strips I also had a test laser treatment but unfortunately I am allergic to all of above apart from laser but because my skin so sensitive it wasn't viable. I just have to shave but I have got to a point and been through more serious health issues now that I just don't give a shit anymore. I hope you find the confidence and right treatment for yourself x
Hi I get laser hair removal it does help but hair will never go away. If you have it bad u can get a referral from ur Dr thru nhs for the removal. Also some places give u a discount if u have pcos u jst need a letter from ur Doctor. I got to skim and only pay for blocks when they are doing their 40% off which is every couple of months. Hair does come in thinner and less now don't get the spots on my neck/chin I use to get from the hair coming thru x
Hi, I'm 17 and was diagnose with PCOS three and a bit years ago. I also have a genetic form of insulin resistance and some other symptoms that come with this. I also suffer from unwanted hair on my upper legs, buttocks, tummy and face. I used hair removal cream/shaved for the first few years but last year I was funded for a course of laser treatment by a local charity. This has helped immensely with my legs and tummy, where the hairs used to be dark, thick and unmanageable... they are now lighter in colour and not quite as dense (although perhaps still not what you would call 'normal' for a girl of my age). The laser however wasn't as effective on my face and upper neck, as the hairs here were lighter in colour to start with, so haven't responded as well... there's not been any change here and I still have to shave daily/every two days.
I realise unwanted hair probably isn't half as bad as some medical conditions, so tend not to complain and just get on with it... it's just a bit of an inconvenience really! It only bothers me sometimes when a friend will touch my face and comment on how rough/dry my skin feels as I immediately pull away from them, I never feel like I can admit that it's actually stubble they're feeling.
Laser is great (IPL is not) but it takes an average of 15 sessions for pcos ladies and then you need to maintain it. I havent been for a few years now but a few are starting to sprout again in the goaty area so I need another top up. Best thing I ever did, expensive but worth it.
Hi kirsty I'm currently having laser treatment which is pricey and the results for me aren't great. I've also tried VANIQA (eflornithine hydrochloride) cream which helped me so might be worth looking into if you haven't already.
