Diagnosed 6 years ago, now struggling...

Hi, I'm new to this community, but not to PCOS :/

I was diagnosed 6 years ago. I managed to lose 5.5 stone through exercise and better eating.

Over the last year I've started to put on weight. I have terrible low moods and irritability. I'm always tired (although that's always been the case). I get pins and needles in my hands and feet, have terrible sleep, and memory issues/foggy brain.

My doc thinks it's my PCOS rearing it's ugly head - I've managed it well for so long; I don't understand why it would suddenly be an issue.

I personally think it's my thyroid, but my test results are borderline so the doc won't help me.

I'd really appreciate people's thoughts. Thanks in advance!

I forgot to say, I exercise a lot, and I'm already on -500 cals a day, and STILL my weight stays the same (or goes up!)

It could be weight gain that has triggered it off again. I do the 5:2 diet which I love (now I have my head around it), as it is easy and cheap.

Hi I've recently found that the foods you eat are key to keeping things under control. No gluten, no dairy (including animals that produce our dairy like cows and goats as the hormone they produce effects our insulin levels). Avoid soya and sugar. Have you had your glucose levels checked as pcos makes us insulin resistent so they might be playing up. It could well be a combination of your thyroid, insulin and pcos. I've also found out that doing excessive cardiovascular exercise isn't always helpful where as lighter cardio and strength building exercise are more beneficial but check that out.

I hope you get it sorted.
