Honestly just add your own spices, after browning the onions. (Brown for a rich curry, translucent for a light curry) Ground coriander, cumin, turmeric and black pepper or a curry powder. Lots of garlic and some fresh chilli. After 30 seconds add tin tomatoes or pasatta and some water. I blended a couple of dates with my tomatoes last time and it was the best curry I've made. Delicious.

You can add vegetable, yellow lentils, chick peas . Ground almonds for a korma style curry. Add whatever you want. Much better than a bought paste but after all that a paste you might be best to go for is pataks curry pastes 🙂
