Turmeric Paste - Joint pain

I bumped into a friend today and was telling her about the problems I am having at the moment with my hands locking at night. She said she had problems with arthritis in her hips and knees and started reluctantly using turmeric paste as her sister had recommended it. She thought it wouldn’t work but now she says the symptoms have completely disappeared. So I think it’s worth a try.

I’ll report back as to whether I have felt it has made a difference. I really do hope it does. I do regularly incorporate turmeric in my cooking already, so we will see.

Here is the link to the recipe I am using in case it might help someone else. Today is the first day so I’ll keep you posted 🙂 (if you do make it be sure not to splash it on your white T-shirt as I did 🙄).

Does anyone else already take this or have any healing vegan recipes?

Sorry your suffering with your hands Ali, that sounds really nasty. I personally do not like the taste of tumeric, so I invested in some Biocare triple strengh Tumeric Capsules - and they were great, when the fibro was really bad - they were a life saver, it was just the cost, I think it worked out about £1 a capsule - so having three a day made it a little pricey but still worth it.

Take care

Hi Debs, that is expensive. This wasn’t expensive and I had all the ingredients already. It’s easy to swallow so that’s good and I don’t like turmeric either. My problem will be remembering to take it!

I think your hands will act as a reminder 😕

For those of us who loathe the taste of Turmeric (especially in the ‘doses’ we ingest it), Kitten-whiskers, this might be a nifty, thrifty, cost effective(?) — but time-consuming — alternative? 🤔

We . . . f i n a l l y . . . migrated to homemade capsules 💊* after suffering through our daily gag-worthy, turmeric-laden smoothies 🍹 🍹 . . . 😝 😝

[Oh . . . please 🙏 don’t misunderstand, Turmeric is delicious 😋 in a flavourful curry, soup, etc.. But, if your downing it in significant doses, it’s spew-worthy 🤢 🤮 . (A taste we just couldn’t get used to no matter how long & hard we tried.)]

. . . 💊 The Capsule Machine Size 00 & 500 Empty Vegetarian Capsules: amazon.co.uk/Capsule-Machin...

. . . 💊 Turmeric: amazon.co.uk/Organic-Turmer...

. . . 💊 Ground Black Pepper

.

. . . 1️⃣ Funnel Turmeric Powder & Ground Black Pepper into an empty (clean/ dry) narrow neck drinking bottle & shake to mix thoroughly.

. . . 2️⃣ Pour the mixture into the empty capsules in "The Capsule Machine" & have at it!!

. . . 3️⃣ In an evenings worth of TV viewing/ sitting, you can fill HUNDREDS of capsules 💊 💊 💊 (provided you can readily use your fingers/ hands ✋🤚 & aren’t debilitated by arthritis & your eyes 👁 👁 are good enough to see 👀 what you’re doing).

.

Don’t know if it’s overall less costly(?) than buying "pre-filled" pricey 💰 Turmeric/ Piperine (Pepper) capsules, but it sure as heck is ‘fun’ churning out hundreds of capsules knowing what’s actually IN them! 😁 😂 [Yes, some of us do have strange ideas of what‘s "fun". 😂 🤣 🙃 ]

. . . • Oh, and of course, if you ever give it a go, ensure your wearing clothes/ apron you don’t mind staining neon (Turmeric) yellow/orange 💛 🧡 ) . . . 😯 😳 😬.

. . . • Have found working over a large tray (on my lap) covered with paper towels/ cloth keeps the mess (somewhat) contained. 😳 🤭 ☺️

Anyhoo . . . merely an idea 💡 if you’ve ever time/ interest in being your own ‘Chemist’ 👨‍🔬 👩‍🔬 in your own ‘Home Apothecary’ 🏠 🏥 , Kitten-whiskers . 😄 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

Thank you 😁😁😁

Hi Ali

I also use turmeric in cooking. I'll be very interested to see how you get on.

Thank you for sharing the link.

All the very best using the paste.😀

Thank you so much. I’ll report back. I need this to work. You have to take a teaspoon a day. It would be great if it worked 😁

It's so good when it's natural as well. I've heard a few times that turmeric is good for the joints.

I've always thought ginger was nature's anti-inflammatory and also helped with joint pain...🤔

Yes it is and I eat anti inflammatory spices regularly but I will see how I get on with this. 🙂🌱👍

Just a ‘heads up’ (a request for measured consideration) , Agoodenough, for Autoimmuners (Rheumatoid Arthritis-ers (RA-ers) & other inflammatory joint sufferers, etc.) who are considering adding oil/ fat to their Turmeric Paste/ Golden Paste recipe:

. . . 👍👍 YES to Turmeric + Black Pepper ( healthunlocked.com/veganfoo... , healthunlocked.com/healthye... )

. . . 👎👎 NO to any additional oils/ fats. (There’s enough oil/ fat within the WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based) foods that we typically/ routinely eat ( healthunlocked.com/nras/pos... ) — along with our ingestion of Turmeric + Black Pepper — that any further fats/ oils merely contribute to inflammation (merely adds more kindling to the simmering fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 (‘inflammatory process’) that lives within Autoimmuners.

.

Merely my simple layman’s understanding: Once the inflammatory process/ ‘cascade’ 📶 gets triggered (set in motion 🔄 ) by ingestion of unneeded fats/ oils it can quickly escalate (snowball 🌀) into a roaring blaze 🔥 🔥 🔥 — an uncontrolled forest fire 🔥 🌲 🔥 🌳 🔥 . That blazing forest fire takes untold time & effort to ‘tamp down’ — to try to get under control. It becomes more & more difficult to suppress the internal bodily flames 🔥 🔥 🔥 (inflammation) once the flames starts rolling ♻️ forward — gaining momentum ♻️ ♻️ ♻️ . . . 😳 😧 . . . (A vicious, scary 😱 cycle ♻️). Getting out-of-control inflammation to abate/ subside can require rolling out the heavy meds 💊 💊 💉💉 when all other tips ‘n trick fail. (WFPB Autoimmuners take great pains to wean off (& stay off) meds or to use them minimally/ judiciously only when & "as needed".) So, to unintentionally/ inadvertently ingest an inflammatory ‘food’ (such as a fat/ oil) is a big, scary ‘No No’ 😯 🤭 😳 . . . That’s why we intentionally avoid adding fuel ⛽️ (fat/ oil) to an already perennially flickering low flame that’s impossible(?) to put out (turn off) permanently. It (the flame 🔥) is always ‘simmering’ in the background. (Hope this makes sense.) It’s like a ‘pilot light’ that remains ‘on’ forever & ever & ever . . . that CAN’T be turned off & can be easily turned up to ‘HIGH’ 🔥 🔥 🔥 swiftly. 😯 🤭

.

This* is what I’ve not only learned (from WFPD medics/ experts) — but from what I (& other autoimmuners) have experienced 1st hand — repeatedly. (Yes, hardcore sceptics can claim it’s merely ‘anecdotal’ experience, that carries ‘NO scientific weight/ authority/ evidence/ relevance’. Yet, for those of us who have the experience, it’s the difference between functioning (being mobile 💃🕺 with little-to-no pain ☺️ ) or being incapable of functioning/ immobile/ incapacitated ♿️ 🛌 ) in crippling/ debilitating pain 😩 .

Anyone is welcome to ‘take or leave’ to their liking the mere "opinions" noted — the voices of actual 1st-hand, experienced Autoimmuners. (Merely a considered ‘heads up’ from long-practicing, WFPB Autoimmuners who are successfully managing their autoimmune condition(s) as best we can. 🙏 😌 )

.

[Realistic, ‘in context’ aside: A mere ‘sprinkling of turmeric’ on food (or in recipes) won’t do much (if anything) for severe, hard-hitting, (RA) joint pain/ out-of-control inflammation 🔥 🥵 . It can require a heaping heavy hit of Turmeric + Black Pepper ** to ease pain. And, even with that, some RA-ers still experience NO relief. Per usual, as with everything, Turmeric + Black Pepper is effective for some (not all) of us — and, again, depending upon the severity of the pain/ inflammation. Also, those managing chronic, life-long inflammatory autoimmune condition(s) use many, many methods/ techniques (lifestyle & dietary: healthunlocked.com/nras/pos.... , healthunlocked.com/nras/pos... . . . ) simultaneously to manage their condition(s). Lots of tools 🛠 ⚒ in our toolboxes 🧰 that we’ve acquired over years of hard-learned lessons 😣🔨 . . . 😖🔧 . . . 🤪⛏ .]

.

Very best wishes for speedy joint/ pain relief, Agoodenough. 😌 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

If you assess Turmeric is something you wish to try — please work closely with your physician(s) 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ to ensure any supplements, spices, herbs, etc. that you plan on ingesting do not conflict with any meds you may currently be taking (or conflicting with any current medical condition(s)). You may already be well aware of this. (Merely noting as a safe, gentle reminder.) Think it's safest if we continue working hand-in-hand 🤝 with our medics as a 'check & balance' ⚖ -- to ensure we don't 'go off the rails' 🛤 🚂 . . . . . 😳 😬 (Merely my layman's opinion 🗣💬.)

Hi Kai, oh dear...thank you for your advice. I have been adding turmeric and pepper to my food and it hasn’t helped. I was told to try this recipes (on the link above) as it apparently works. I might be better off with a heaped spoon of the dry ingredients and wash it down with water. I have never been one for avoiding oils and have never had joint problems in the past but am now experiencing repetitive strain injuries since starting to do gardening as a job about 18 months ago. I will look into your reply and see what might be a better option. Ali

I know what you mean, Agoodenough/ Ali. 😳 🤦‍♀️

‘Self-experimenting/ testing’ with Turmeric Paste (with & without oil/fat) is sometimes the only way to find out what works best for us. Bit of ‘rolling the dice’ 🎲 🎲 . . . 😳

Hoping whatever ingredient blend you experiment with works well for you, Ali. 👍👍 . . . No fun suffering through pain 😫 of repetitive strain injuries ✋🤚. . . Wishing 🙏 you speedy pain relief.

[We joke at our house that we can help each other forget about pain in one body part ( 💪 ) , by striking another body part with a hammer (🦵💥🔨 ) . . . . 😂 😂 😂 . . . Obviously, not seriously recommended — just for humorous purposes only. 😬 😆 🙃 ]

Kindly let us know how you make out. 👍👍 . . . It’s interesting 🤔 to see what works for folks. ☺️ 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

.

[Oh, I can’t imagine you (or anyone) trying to washing down a heaping spoon 🥄 of dry Turmeric ingredients 😳 🤯 with water 🚰 . (I hope you were joking. 😄 🙃 . . . If not, & you are able to perform such a feat 🦶, I’d love to see a video 📹 of that!! 😯 😳 ) ]
