John has lost his appetite and sense of taste at the moment after this latest health problem. In fact certain things taste horrid.

He cannot drink coffee at all and he used to have 3 or 4 cups every morning. He says some things actually taste horrid. Has anyone else esperienced this?

Hi Susan

This may come through twice. Sometimes when I post it doesn't take the message and returns to the signing in page, and I think it has done that again.

Coffee. I love it, but not when I have any sort of "not feeling well" whether it is to do with the WG or a cold, nasty headache or whatever. It tastes absolutely foul. I never ever drink tea so it doesn't leave very much apart from hot milk or plain water. I once tried fruity water out of a bottle, but if think the sweetener made it taste vile. Also I go off my food and can only manage some soup, custard or porridge.

I too go off coffee when I'm feeling unwell, especially if I'm on antibiotics. I find flavoured water the only drink palatable.

Wishing you better and a happy and healthier new year.

John does not even like flavoured water drinks or fizzy drinks at the moment. BUT I have bought some Co-op Bitter Lemon and he likes that, thank goodness. he is supposed to drink lots of fluids but its hard when he does not really feel like it..

i went totally off flavours when i had cyclophosphamide. I even ended up with a woolly tongue. has he had that checked? i now have been prescribed a broad range antibiotic to stop the "furry tongue" incidents

Hi Susan

I have a similar problem when I am not feeling too good. Like John I find bitter lemon refreshing and have also found Robinson's Barley water tasty too. Another thing which freshens my mouth are Ice lolly's. I particularly like the fruit pastille flavvoured ones.

Hope this helps and that John is feeling much better soon.

Merry Christmas to you both

dairy products seem to leave a different tast in my mouth, artificial sweeteners have always left a nasty aftertaste, as for the rest,i have been blaming the farmers and manufacturers that nothing tastes like it used to. i find fruit flavourd tea granules from lidl, pleasent and refreshing. my appetite fluctuats so mainly i nibble as i feel like .as for coffee,i dont really care what it tasts like, i NEED it in a morning
