How can a skin biopsy reveal vasculitis but not which type?

All it can do is show vasculitis in the skin and it is called leukocytoclastic vasculitis, but it is a likely indicator of more general vasculitis. If it proves positive then you probably should be seen by a vasculitis specialist and not just a dermatologist.
However, to be aware if you also have any sort of urticarias, if you have a positive biopsy, it also doesnt mean that anyone will actually believe it!
I had a positive biposy in early 2009, so far 1 dermatologist 1 gastroenterologist and 1 immunologist believe that result and 1 dermatologist, 1 immunologist and 1 rhematologist dont, so I have been going round and round in circles trying to get a diagnosis of what exactly is going on.
