TAK & WEGENERS

Hello. Is there anyone out there who suffers with both TAK and WEGENERS? I have TAK but am bit concerned might have WEGENERS too as I have been having constant sinus problems for months. Not sure whether to press this possibility with Consultant. Any advice be appreciated.

I think you should certainly discuss this with your consultant.

I was told a long time ago, by an excellent doctor, that you should never look for two causes of a problem when what you are looking at is a different manifestation of one problem. Also it is something that we vasculitis patients tend to do, and that is to think that everything that goes wrong with us is due to the vasculitis. We do this simply because we just don't know. However "common things happen commonly". So this just might be one of those things which has nothing to do with the vasculitis but it certainly needs checking out.

Takayasu, as you know, involves the large blood vessels whereas WG affects the medium/small blood vessels. I think you would be very unlucky to find you have both - but nothing is impossible is it?

There has been mention of TAK and WG in the fb group just recently but the lady concerned was referred to David Jayne at Addenbrooks and she is undergoing a series of tests at the moment...
