I have Churg Strauss (EGPA) treated with methotrexate and steroids, and have been invited for Phnumonia and Shingles vaccinations. Are they safe/sensible to have?

Just make sure the shingles vaccine is the Shingrix one (non-live]and not the [live] Zostavax one - which has been discontinued, but there may still be supplies around.

Yes I agree had the Shingdrix and Pneumonia no trouble and I'm on methotrexate and small dose steroid. Worth doing obviously not on the same day!

Definitely not! Too much for a stressed immune system to cope with.

I always have the pneumonia one and I have churg Strauss too - I’ve never been invited to shingles

I thought the pneumonia jab was a once only?

It is normally … once you are over 65.. Although depending on circumstances you may have had one earlier in life…

my surgery maintains that I cannot have shingles vaccine because I am on Methotrexate x

You can have the shingrix one - but you probably need to see have a break from MTX for a couple of weeks -

Hi ..I am on benra and reducing steroids. I had flu, pneumonia and covid vaccines all in one go. Also had the first shingrix in Dec and due my second booster after 12 weeks. No problems at all.
