Hi, after reading here about travel insurance, I thought I would try Virgin however just been talking to them for an insurance quote for pre existing conditions including my wg, high blood pressure and they do NOT cover them. Just thought I would let people know as I asked twice for cover for wg and she said No.

I heard today from someone else who Virgin have refused. However, from what I understand he wasn't refused because of the WG but for another condition he has which they don't cover. I haven't heard of any problems with Virgin covering WG where it is under control. I think I'd be ringing back and speaking to someone else - like the manager of the department.
Insurance is a strange thing. I have an annual holiday insurance through my bank and they have covered a host of things including pulmonary vasculitis, yet they have refused to cover Wegeners, I thought Wegeners sat under the umbrella of pulmonary vasculitis? Will need to shop around for next holiday insurance.
The girl from Virgin had her manager with her and they both said No, the only thing I can think of is perhaps they don't cover wg if the lungs have been affected.
I have just taken travel insurance with Virgin, naming vasculitis as the primary medical condition, then answering questions about possible linked problems such as hypertension. No problems at all. I have MPA but was never asked to define my type of vasculitis, could it be you declared WG (rather than vasculitis) straight away? If it doesn't fit with their standard questions and answers, it does seem to throw them.
If they still refuse you, try goodtogo insurance, they cover vasculitis with no problems and are not expensive.
I got travel insurance through Virgin last week even though I declared WG - which was on their list of diseases. I declared lung involvement, although I did point out it is now under control. I got one trip, European insurance for myself and my husband for £28. Are you trying to get an annual insurance? Or maybe worldwide? It may be different for them.
Hi Jackie exactly the same with me. I didn't even get as far as stating CLL just my hip replacements and heart attack 10 years ago, straightaway Virgin said they wouldn't even cover those items. Good for you Branson.
Hi I had a great service from Nationwide last year. I declared the illness on application and when I was unlucky enough to visit a Spanish hospital with APS related symptoms, Nationwide were great and paid out my fees without debate. Hope this helps
