Nasal problems: Hi all i would like to know if... - Vasculitis UK
Nasal problems
have you got chronic sinusitis?
hi johnny thanks for your reply I don't think I have chronic sinusitis, but I suffer with catarrh when i was diagnosed with gpa what came out of my nose was horrible it looked like bone? and with my recent flare it happened again, I might be clutching at straws because the flare affected my lungs again, I am going to try and get to see the Ent dep and get an appointment
the right thing to do. I’m paying for a private ultrasound to try and establish how I get rid of my chronic sinusitis
if you are in the UK contact the vasculitis helpline. You want to avoid nasal complications and urgent treatment is important. In any calls etc say you clearly want to avoid saddle nose and other complications. Make a note of your calls etc. Hope it is soon sorted.
I get sinus and catarrh issues, which were being investigated by ENT before I was diagnosed. I am now on a daily dose of Trimoxavole to prevent sinus infections. If you are having breathing issues try speaking to to you GP about getting a Powerbreath or similar device. powerbreathe.com/does-power...

Hi Tomo1854, I didn’t so feel very fortunate. My Mam did though…….what? You may say but yes my Mam was diagnosed with GPA (referred to as Wegener's in 1997) at exactly the same as age as me with exactly the same symptoms but more severe because it took a lot longer to diagnose her. But her nose bless her collapsed at the saddle and as a result was always blowing her nose. She recovered though mate?
hi tomo
I too was treated with a deviated septum a year before being diagnosed with GPA. I also had sever nose pain which they couldn’t give a reason for the pain, and catarr which bothered me greatly.
hi all thankyou for your replies and advice, my breathing really worries me I cant do anything without being really breathless i have spoken to my consultant he said its the vasculitis Flare causing it, it did badly hit my lungs again I just keep thinking about my nose and the breathing problem I'm hoping to get ritiximab to try and get me back into remission I will know more when I see him again in a few weeks take care
