Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any strange bruising after having the Pfizer booster and flu jab, which I had yesterday. I’ve not banged it and it’s not sore or tender. The Pfzier was in my left arm and flu in my right - bruise on my right hand/wrist.

An Australian site does mention this as a rare side effect to the AZ vaccine -

Pin-prick rash or bruising not at the injection site that cannot be explained.

Maybe you should run it past GP - and then report it via Yellow card scheme if no other explanation -

Hi, yea my husband has found that side effect so have sent a picture to the GP and have rung 111. It is just very strange as said I do bruise easily but I’ve not banged it and it’s not sore or tender - it’s never simple when you have vasculitis 😊

I had GCA (Giant Cell Arteritis) and was on steroids for 4 & half years and found I bruised very easily…better now I’m no longer on medication …but that a cracker! But best to get it checked.

Do you bruise easily and/or have you suffered with purpura since having vasculitis? Or are you on anti-coagulants? I ask because I can answer Yes to all three. When I had my first Pfizer jab, I was disappointed when the lady who administered it didn't apply cotton wool and press it down. Instead she rubbed it vigorously and it bled down my arm. I then developed a massive bruise. The subsequent doses, both given by more experienced nurses, have been fine, and I have yet to see how my flu jab goes tomorrow, although never had a problem before. Being a big bruise, it took a long time to go, but it only behaved like a normal bruise. I can't be sure what had caused yours, but if anything continues to worry you, then I'd get in touch with the nurses at your surgery and let them know.

Have had one Moderna shot. Yes, I have had several thumb sized bruises and small red dots in my upper legs. But I have myeloma and thought that was why, though why now when blood work good and unchanged.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yea it was a bit of a shock to see the bruise - I’ve been told to watch out for other symptoms, such as breathlessness, more bruising etc - just still feeling very fatigued and achy so just resting. As said your body never feels the same after vasculitis ☹️😊
