Double jabbed in March now have covid

Hi, I have GPA and just found out I have covid. I've taken all necessary steps to keep myself as safe as possible, but have still caught it. I was on strong dose of azathioprine but as soon as I found I rang my consultant who said to stop taking it immediately. Unfortunately I can not just stop my prednisolone. I'm now on day 4 and now have pain in my ribs, not from coughing as I haven't coughed alot really. I'm petrified what's going to happen either with covid or my gpa. Has anyone else experienced this?

So sorry to hear this, how stressful and worrying for you. What are your sats like? You may have developed a chest infection as well . Prednisone is often increased during illness but obviously please be guided by you consultant.

If you are concerned about your rib pain 111 are able to help .. just make them aware you are immune suppressed .

Take care and keep a close eye on your self .. things can deteriorate quite quickly when we are already unwell .

Thanks for your reply. I wonder how many others in our situation have caught the virus. I'm just angry as I took all the precautions I could . Don't think people worry now as they think everyone will be fine aslong as they have their jabs. It feels like we've been thrown to the wolves and left to fend for ourselves

I’m sorry to hear this. I caught Covid and it coincided with my first jab. I was OK, was classified as having a moderate dose by my Rheumatologist. I stayed in bed ( couldn’t get out of it but didn’t want to put pressure on any organs unnecessarily) , drank water and orange juice loads, ate nutritious food even though I had no appetite and monitored my oxygen levels throughout. I also took paracetamol. Keep a close eye on your oxygen levels and if they drop do not hesitate in seeking help. I was angry too as I’d been so careful shielding. I’ve ended up with long Covid but I did survive. I hope you will be OK xx

Hello VQueen, I'm so sorry to read you've contracted this awful virus on top of Vasculitis. I'm located in the States and although they're readily available, vaccination rates remain mediocre, at best. I wish you improved health.

Can you obtain an oximeter? It could give you some peace of mind or alert you if your O2 levels drop to a concerning level. I have this model and I monitor my numbers daily:

Hydrate and rest. We're all keeping you in our hearts and prayers.

Hi, thanks for your reply 😊 yes we have a few of them due to both my children having lung conditions. My one child and I take the same prophylactic antibiotics as maintenance so we are quite clued up when it comes to o2 sats and respiratory rates. This thing is never gonna slow down unless we get most of the world vaccinated. Until then we are going to have new variants and changes to make new vaccines and perhaps an even lower efficacy in us vasculitis patients.Thank you for your reply. Stay safe 🙏

Call your gp and get an oxygen saturation machine.

l was at my GP surgery the other day and the Nurse who saw me said although a large number of people have had both vacations, we all need to be careful because of the other variants coming along.

Wow! Well done. I am on Rituximab and some people who have GPA say they got though Covid ok and others struggled or worse.

Yeah, I think back to this time last year before being diagnosed I was really poorly with my chest and in and out of hospital. I was put onto covid wards even when my tests always came back negative, I never caught covid then. When I went to different hospital with a few days I got my diagnosis and treatment started straight away. I had stop my azathioprine tablets for 2 weeks and now back on them. I have noticed another drop in my breathing though but fingers crossed I've come out of it relatively unscathed
