Hi is there any difference between iga vasculitis and iga nephropathy? How serious is having persistent ++blood and protein in urine and microalbumin level 257? Does vasculitus cause ur vit d levels to drop? Do u know if it can be treated or if its a life long condition?

Hi there. Sorry I have no answers for you but I am interested in this question too. I tried to find other posts here about IgA vasculitis affecting adults but there were very few. I guess it only affects 1.8 in 100,000 adults so finding others is hard - particularly because only a percentage will have kidney involvement - and then this is IgA nephropathy? I’m very new to this though.
I always have raised IgA in blood, trace blood in my pee and sometimes protein too - but usually just blood. I have other autoimmune diseases so I’m guessing that, if I do also have IgA vasculitis, then this would explain the trace blood.

IgA Nephropathy has the potential to be much more serious that IgA Vasculitis so it’s important you are looked after by doctors with experience and knowledge of both. Vit D deficiency has been associated with the development of autoimmunity.
This from the Mayo Clinic explains IgA Nephropathy in an understandable way if it helps at all mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...
