Does this rash, red colouring of hands looks familiar to anyone? Normally my hands feel very stiff, sometimes pins and needles

My hands have become more of a target since Christmas. They never seem to go back to their normal colouring without a rash. During these episodes where I feel so run down , the redness and rash becomes more apparent.

I took 30mg pedisone this morning. The only benefit is that my brain fog is clearing and my hands are not hurting and the rash has not spread to my legs and feet, which is a god send.

So confused at what is going on with my body :-(

my hands have been like that all of my life...I was diagnosed with Vasculitis MPA in May 2015...I believe the disease has always been in my body......when I'm going through very bad episodes the colouring appears deeper....this is a very confusing disease I also wish I understood what was going on in my body......good luck

Thank you for your reply. A few others have mentioned vasculitis before.

Can I ask did you or do you suffer sleep problems? I can fall asleep but can not stay asleep. I miss how well I used to sleep

I am permanently tired and lack of energy however I do wake through the night and usually am awake for an hour or more each time. A totally confusing disease I miss so many things that once were natural...however to me it's a new life and i try and make the most of it...i won't let it define me...good luck

A very positive attitude. I think I just need the diagnosis, so I can accept it and hopefully get into some medication which will see me have better days more often

Dear Lisalou,

Have you been tested for the presence of ANCA antibodies? That should provide some insight into whether or not vasculitis is the diagnosis or not? If you have not been tested, ask to be tested. If you are positive, steroids would be a first line of treatment anyway.

Feeling down, run down, fatigued all the time is par for the course unfortunately.

Hope you get a diagnosis soon.

Thank you for your reply. I just had some more bloods done through the hospital. He said they are more in depth then the ones you get at a routine doctors. I now have to wait til 6th June.

I have doctors tomorrow morning, I’m going to see if you can put me on low does steroids daily to try and give me some respite.

I do have good days, but they are so few & far between now. Been up since 2.30am this morning . I wake so alert I can not go back off!!
