Vasculitis colchicine
Hi, I am afraid that I do understand what type vasculitis you have been diagnosed with or have I heard of the drug you have been given. Perhaps you might want to give the Vasculitis UK Helpline a call. 0300 365 0075 for more information.
Good Luck
Hi Mullany,
Is your diagnosis Leucytoclastic Vasculitis?
It's not really a Vasculitis variant more a descriptive term usually used for Vasculitis which affects the skin.
As Jann says it's difficult to advise without more information. Colchicine is a fairly safe medication, it's not an immunosupressant as such. It can be useful to treat joint pain, skin problems and mouth ulcers but isn't a normal treatment for Vasculitis.
Hi
I have Cutaneous Vasculitis. I have been on Colchine for 2 years and take 2 tablets a day. I have regular bloods every 6 weeks.
I do have episodes where my Vasculitis will flare up but Colchine works 90% of the time
I have Iga vasculitis and have been taking colchicine for 2 years. It keeps my feet from swelling up and looking 'angry'. The pain persists though. I do blood tests every 6 months. Hope it can help you.
I have IGA Vasculitis, and I have been taking Colchicine for about two months. If I take it with food I don't feel any side-effects from the medication. It does bother my stomach a bit if I don't eat a meal with the medication. I still do not know if Colchicine has helped my IGA Vasculitis, which fortunately as far as I know, is only present in my skin. My kidney function has been ok. I have still had some skin flare ups while taking Colchicine.
