Just wondering if anyone can recommend a Vasculitis specialist centre or doctor in the South East? I live in Bexhill. I am being treated at my local hospital which is swamped with patients and I would like to see a specialist who could give me more time. Jan

Nearest Vasculitis specialist
What is your presumptive diagnosis?
Hi Jan,
What type of Vasculitis do you have and what organs are affected?
I think your nearest specialist clinic is probably London, both the Royal Free ( Prof Alan Salama ) and the Hammersmith ( Prof Charles Pusey ) have multi disciplinary Vasculitis clinics. I am not sure that they have any more time to devote to patients though!
thanks for the information. I have GPA with renal involvement and although my Rheumatologist locally is good i would like a second opinion Best wishes Jan
Thanks so much for your reply, that is very helpful, best wishes Jan
I attend the Royal Free (Hampstead). Patient time at the routine vasculitis clinic (Monday afternoons) is obviously limited - but in my experience there is no sense of rush.
My initial attendances for suspected vasculitis was dealt with separately and if I recall correctly Alan Salama and his co-consultant Sally Hamour spent over half-an-hour each explaining vasculitis and discussing treatment options.
When I have a flare they are immediately available by e-mail or phone (and if necessary an early appointment) to discuss what to do.
They take patients from a wide area. Travel from Bexhill by train and Underground or bus is fairly easy, and I can provide details (I suggest off group) if desired.
Well recommended.
