Now colitis with vasculites

Hi Anyone got colitis as well as GCA. Just had results of biopsies taken in colonoscopy. Now waiting to see another consultant,because of the vasculitis.Things just get better.

We know of a few patients with large vessel Vasculitis and inflammatory bowel disease. I don't think it's clear what the association is although once you have one auto immune disease many patients develop another!

Hopefully someone will be along with personal experience.

Good news is that the same medications for vasculitis also are used for imflammatory bowel disease. I have some sort of imflamatory bowel disease however it is unknown whether this is vasculitis of the gut or chrons or Ulcerative colitis. I also have a rare form of vasculitis relapsing polychondritis.

Yes, have both but had severe Collogenous Colitis for a year in 2015. Continuous, terrible diarrhea. Considered it as a result of having RA for 45 years. Then in 2016, got severe RA Vasclitis. The eventual Rituxin infusions cleared up the Colitis but it flares up again before my 6 month Rituxin infusions are given to me again. Believe its the inflamation causing both like Amy51 says. I also have ankylosing spondylitis and have recently been diagnosed with vasculitis. It is the belief of my consultant(s) that the 2 are linked, one of the main symptoms from my AS is synovitis in my big toe
