Swelling on left side of face.

Just came back from doctors.After checking my temperature and looking in my mouth,suggested paracetamol.No cocerns.But as I am under a neurologist for possible cns vasculitis.Should I be going to the hospital? ?? One half of me says yes.

Hi Jan, 

Much depends on how bad the swelling is. If it extends up to and including your eye ( peri orbital odema ) then you should seek urgent medical advice. If it's just a little swollen and not getting worse and you have no other symptoms then I am not sure how much the hospital ( I presume you mean A& E ) could add? 

Do you have specific concerns about the swelling? Are you being treated with immunosuppressants?

Thank you for reply,not around my eye.Not being treated.Neurologist thinks I may have cns vasculitis.Just under going tests for diagnosis. I did not go to a&e if symptoms get close to eyes.

Wessex neurology centre Southampton.Under going tests.My doctor told me that is what they have suggested.Awaiting Lumbar Punture and possibly angiogram.

Have you been to the dentist?  It could be an abcess .

Personally, if it has been 'up' for a few days, then yes I'd have it checked...Just 'in case'.
