Hiya, just wondering if anyone in the community has any experience or knowledge of acquired bleeding disorders / blood vessel fragility symptoms developing around the same time as GPA (or other forms of vasculitis)?

Not sure what you mean.. but small vessel Vasculitis is all about damage to the wall of the blood vessels so it causes fragility .

Hi , I found your question as bit confusing . I have been diagnosed with CSS and a few of the 1st symptoms were pulmonary bleeding , intestinal bleeding , bleeding in renal system , blooding over of the eyes , nose bleeds and specific blood vessels in the peripheral parts bleeding . Through out all of my illness the bleeding has never stopped . The amount of blood loss has been the only variable . Unfortunately I have recently had involvement of bleeding in the ears and the feet . The foot bleeding could be a side effect of medication . Hope this helps you . Mike .

Sorry, badly written question. What I was trying to ask was, other than the fragility caused by having small vessel vasculitis has anyone any experience of being diagnosed with any other type of acquired bleeding disorder at the same time as vasculitis (e.g. Blood clotting Factor issue)?

Mike, has anyone ever discussed Tranexamic Acid (the anti bleeding drug) with you. Apologies if this is not appropriate etc for where you are in the illness.

Hi PCAD , The response to the bleeding has been 4 operations due to the inflamed blood vessels having necrotised . When the tissue necrotises there's very little or no scope for additional drug therapy . I'm happy with what all of the consultants are doing for me . I could not get better treatment anywhere . They treat me with dignity , they explain everything and always afford me all the time i need with them . An example was that I bumped in to one of the consultants in a corridor and we both had something to say . He took me for a coffee and gave me all the time I need ed to ask questions . I cannot thank the consultants enough for all that they do for me . I can always get an appointment within 5 days they are just so good and I've never experienced a problem about drugs or cost or anything . I won't hear a bad word said about the NHS . On Christmas eve a consultant came to see me in a side room of a hospital ward . He should have finished at 6pm and yet he was still with me at 8pm and had spent an hour with me . They are all top of their game . Sorry for going on but I feel that the medical staff don't get the proper recognition and reward for all that they do . Their treatment and conduct with me is so reassuring and has helped me so much . I would like to think other peoples experience is the same as mine but I guess thats not the case . PCAD all the best for the future . Mike
