I have WG and I have started to bave nosebleeds in the mornings. I haven't had a problem before. The only changes I have had is in medication, my thyroxine has been reduced and my statins doubled, could this be the problem?

Nosebleeds
Possibly, valwood but it could also be the WG becoming active again. I think it is best to talk to your doctor who treats you for you vasculitis, just to be on the safe side.
best wishes

Dear valwood,
In answer to your question- yes definitely, changing medication- or the levels- can, and does, cause these type of problems. Please feel free to take no notice of a 'silly old man' here but.....How are your kidneys? I only ask because I had kidney problems, since I was diagnosed-nearly eighteen years ago-and the final 'effect', the one that meant that I had to go onto dialysis, was a bad nose bleed. I am aware that we are all different but it might it be, at least, worth checking? Sorry to be the bringer/harbinger of 'doom and gloom' here-please, please, please do prove me completely wrong. I won't mind at all, in fact, I'd be delighted, if you do!
I'm not on Rituximab myself, although I have definitely heard of it, and there has been a fair bit of 'talk', regarding 'side effects etc., on these pages. Reading between the lines, so to speak, it seems that some do, and some don't, get 'side effects'. This is true of all drugs but, it appears, particularly of immune-suppressants. Assuming that I'm wrong about your kidneys, and I really hope that I am, you could perhaps discuss an 'alternative drug regime' with your doctors/consultants.
One final thought-how close are you to Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge? Dr David Jane, the leading authority on 'all things' vasculitis/auto-immune, is based there. I have chosen to stay under his team, for vasculitis, despite returning to Ipswich Hospital, for my main care. Sorry to 'rabbit' on so but I felt that I needed to impart my thoughts, to you.
I send you my, indeed al our, best wishes and a, slightly belated, Happy New Year.
Best wishes AndrewT
Thanks for your reply. I have class 4 CKD so now I am really worried. I am also based at Ipswich hospital and have been really happy with the care I recieve. I would find it difficult getting to Addenbrookes. I am due to see my rheumatologist in a couple of weeks so I will keep my fingers crossed it has.all been caused by changes in medication. I would be interested in knowing how close you are to Ipswich would benice to meet up with someone
who understands.
Valerie
I get slight problems like this when WG / GPA flares. However, I also had RTX in December and have had slight problems like this around mid-January. It seems to have settled down again now and I know my latest blood test is showing the readings heading in the right direction.
Dear Val,
I live at Holland-on-Sea, near Clacton, and therefore I relay on my mother, with whom I now live, to take me to Ipswich hospital. Were do you live Val, I assume that is your name, mine is Andrew.
Notwithstanding a 'whole heap, of potential/actual problems, yes it might be good to meet.
In the mean time, best wishes Andrew
I live in Woodbridge and like you I have to rely on people giving me lifts.
Hi Valwood It is very probably the W.G. Which I suffer and I too have been having one or two nose bleeds as well as that good old rash again, So I wood make an appointment with your doc, who will very probably up the steriods for a bit until the nose bleeds settle thats what usually happens to me bit it's not to much to be worried over. Hope this helps
Thanks for your reply. Isee my rheumy soon so will ask him about it. I've just had blood tests done so I presume if there is any thing to worry about it will show up &they will contact me.
