I lost all of my teeth over a period of about 12 years one by one they became loose and fell out.I got a wisdom tooth at age 48 within 3years that came out. I kept them all in a little clear plastic bag just to prove I didnt have bad Teeth. Three years ago I went to a place that only make false teeth and the chap asked me why I had kept them and said it was very strange thing to do so I disposed of them and wish I hadnt. I had had lots of troubel with my teeth over the years . one day I went to work and it started the dreaded tooth ache, my dentist could not see me and a collelegague

rang a dentist friend who said he woule see me.He could find nothing wrong with my teeth and even lit a little burner

heated something on it put it on the tooth I was in pain with and I never flinched. A couple of days later I went to my dentist who was equally puzeld and sent me to Leeds dental hospital they could not find a problem but said they would take 2 fillings out and pack then and to go back the next day a Friday I remember it like yesterday.I had a night of hell with pain I on a score of 1 to 10 it was 12. When I got to dental hospital first thing well before my app time

I was shouted at and told there was nothing wrong with my teeth it could be reffered pain. I had to beg him to take the tooth I thought was causing the problem out .I was sent away with a bottle with 2 tablets in and told not to take them unless I was in agony! Not having had any sleep for 4 nights I took both pills when the pail came back and went to sleep for 6 hours I felt so weak but the pain had gone. From the age of 5 Id had many strange things My Mum thought i was a bit of a drama queen. I am 64 now Unfortunatly Mum died in 1994 still I had not been diagnosed with SLE ,APS only reallized I had vasculitis 2 Years ago. I was at stage 12 years ago where I thought I was a nut case.

I have gone on long enough but Johns artical has done so much good for me giving answers that one of my so called

dramas can now be put away for good (still wish I had Keept my bag of teeth)

Please excuse bad spelling and gramma Love and hugs to all Rsue

I am making a comment BEFORE I read this article so am hoping it may help & answer some serious concerns I have with regards to my teeth and them starting to snap, fall out and roots not being accessible. I've had problems with my teeth for around 6 years. I have ALWAYS looked after my teeth and gums, brushed carefully and flossed. My belief is that 9 years of prednisolone has done this but no one will admit this. I've been so self conscious and will avoid smiling due to one of my front upper teeth snapping and a replacement falls out often and this needs to be glued back in around 4-6 times per year. I have other teeth now just starting to break off and get loose.

I will read this and then comment. Thank you

Suzym2u I have had a nightmare with my teeth in the last few years. I've had bits of teeth just break off and one that was crown, just broke. Under the crown the tooth had been filed but had seemingly either rotted or just snapped. I've noticed my dental health decline so rapidly. I have only been having the treatment for vasculitis since October of 2015. I told my dentist of this but she seems either unaware of it or is not really that bothered by it. I am an NHS patient and so we don't get the best of care as it is. I have had 2 teeth taken out and both times suffered dry socket after and the pain was really unbearable and lasted nearly 9-10 weeks in both cases.

I have the one tooth that has a post in it and this is them held in place with glue. It keeps breaking down and needs resetting. Can you please give me any advice on how to approach my dentist with this and of anything that I need to make her aware of please ? I really have had a lot of dental visits and it is yet another aspect of this disease that really drags me down. I have been feeling very depressed with it all of late so any advice would be greatly accepted. Many thanks
