Hi Louise

When I was on higher doses of Pred (but also on the cyclophosphamide) I didn't get spots but I got a terrible rash - neck, chest and lower legs. For the rash I used calamine lotion t stop the itching, but I don't think this would be any good for spots. If they are troublesome or get worse then you need to speak to your GP or consultant. Sometimes all that is required is a change of medication or a change of dose (or a bit of both).

As for Disability, yes, many of us have claimed, some have been granted it, some have been granted it and then it has been taken away at a later date. The thing is if you don't try you won't know. Contact Susan Mills before you actually send in a claim. She has lots of details of how to ensure that you get treated properly and not dismissed because the assessors have never heard of vasculitis.

What kind of spots are they Louise? Medication can cause the rash/spots but so can active vasculitis. maybe have your "spots" checked out by your consultant or someone who has experience of vasculitis.

If you send an email to sandjmills@btinternet.com we can send you all the documentation to help you decide if you can claim DLA and also help with how to do it.

All the best x

Hi Louise, I have had the spots you talk about and that was one of my main reason's for going to the doctor and being diagnosed with WG it could be a symptom of your condition and not the meds. Like everyone else I would say you need to go back to your GP to discuss the matter.

I also claim DLA and was awarded it but I also have other conditions as well that figure into it I do know however some people who have claimed DLA on vasculitus alone and have been award it. But ask Sue for the form have a look and if you decide to fill it in see what happens you've nothing to lose.

Hope this helps Dave
