I developed tinnitus (left side mostly) a few months ago - it’s there all the time and the first thing I’m aware of when I wake and when it’s quiet. Sonetimes when I wake the affected ear canal is damp - the other side isn’t. I don’t have an infection or issues with wax.
More recently I’ve developed painful red ears.
I used to get one red ear now and then about 10 years ago - it came on when I was a bit stressed and then disappeared a short time later.
Now I have pain in both outer ears -the redness is not apparent but it’s getting me down.
I wondered if it could be hormone related (I’m menopausal and on treatment for hypothyroidism ). I also wondered if they could be linked to a traumatic and protracted molar extraction a few months ago. There was a ‘chronic’ infection in the root and it took about 6 weeks and two courses of antibiotics to clear it up.
Generally, I’m in a really good place in my life. Just escaped a horrendously toxic work situation and in a new job. Life is good apart from these ears - ‘ really getting me down.
I should add that I have little faith in doctors., particularly males.
