does anyone feel ike the tinnitus started after covid? Just interested in any links, I’ve recently had a bad virus not tested for covid but it was quite nasty and I’m wondering if that’s why my tinnitus is worse

There is a lot of debate on it, a lot of links on Google that share various opinions. - google.com/search?q=covid+t...

if you are feeling poorly, Mr T perks up - it’s like a see-saw.

Mine started after the covid injection. I am NOT an antivaxer. In fact this was my 5th dose as I am on medication which makes me immunosuppressed.

The headache after the jab was unbearable and paracetamol/ibuprofen did not even touch it. Four days later I woke up with a screeching noise and the T never went away. Now its more a buzzing noise rather than ringing but its still there six months after the jab. The research is still ongoing - no clear cut evidence but my experience is enough for me..

My tinnitus got much worse after having the covid vaccinations and after having covid infection , twice. In the first place I got tinnitus after an Inner Ear infection in combination with a throat infection.

Absolutely agree with all comments made. Mine started after 3rd covid jab with sudden onset of terrible Pulsatile tinnitus. I have no evidence to link this but seems strange coincidence. Had it ever since last August no let up. I’m not against the covid jab but my personal view is there is a link. Others may think differently. Best wishes

Mine seemed to start after I got COVID for second time. It definitely started during lockdown and got progressively worse over the following year.

I will caveat that although this was the timeframe for mine starting, I think I may have additional complications that are affecting my tinnitus and I'm exploring as well. But definitely after second COVID infection was when it really spiked and then carried on getting worse from there.

Interestingly your story is quite similar to mine . Although I was tested as I am a nurse in a large hospital and we were tested twice a week . I worked the whole pandemic full time and never tested positive . 2 years and always had negative results. I opted to not get the the shot however in late November 2022 I tested positive . I was retested with a more decisive lab and indeed it came back with positive results. I was super ill . I had that headache that was described in one of the replies to this post . Awful searing incapacitating headache unresponsive to ANY medication . Around March in 2024 I woke up with insane ringing in my right ear . Fun fact ...I had received the Tdap vaccine in late Feb of 2024 . It was a requirement of employment . This particular vaccine I had received many times as I have been a bedside nurse for over 30 years . It is required every 10 years at my institution. So this was my third dose in 30 years. My tinnitus started approx 3 weeks to a month later . Anyways those are the facts . I am sad to read all of these replies . In my opinion it is clear to see there is definitely something to investigate. Sadly it seems not to be a real priority . I wonder why This forum has helped me a great deal . It is such a relief to know that I am not alone with my T

Thank you to everyone and keep on keeping on . Living with T can be done with lots of determination and grit

Warm regards

I hate to say this, but I'm so glad to read the replies. Tinnitus started day after covid/flu jab. Went to a couple of concerts after and ringing persisted (which I expected), I thought it was the concerts. Went to the docs after 2 months and explained about the jab then tinnitus the next day and was told it was a total coincidence. Its a relief to see some people have had the same problem and I am not imagining it.
