Have been suffering a few weeks of very painful phlebitis.( Need veins sorted asap). The only upside is that I dont really notice the T at the moment. I am too focused on the leg pain .

Thank you Happyrosie . The pain is definitely worse than the T. My brain seems to know I cant cope with both :). Think because I went through all this 20 years ago. I did eventually habituate so I'm hoping this time it goes quicker. Sometimes I think its nearly there. I'm in a better place than 6 months ago. P.s Dont ever take Atorvastatin.

Not the leg . My tinnitus . My doctor put me on Atorvastatin in January . Took 40mg for 5 days . Woke upon day 6 , What the hell !! . Same noise . same ear. Even the ENT consultant I saw recently agreed it was due to that statin . He showed me a webpage about it on his computer. I know 5 people on Ator . 3 have T . One worse than mine. No-one can remember when the T started in relation to the statin because it can take months before T starts. Although I remember one friend saying she thought her T was quieter . That was certainly before she started the statin .Now its very loud. Did you have T before Atorvastatin? My T was still there but soo quiet I didnt notice it. Ator leaflet says it may cause it , it doesn't say may make it worse. If I'd known I would never have taken it .

It does seem the dosage might make a difference . Those on the low dosage don’t have it . I was given 40 mg. So was my friend .

oh I had tinnitus long before I started statins. The statin made no difference to the T. I was on a different statin but changes to Ator. because the one I had been on had to be taken in the evening, and that wasn’t convenient.

You were lucky . But it does prove we all have to check the “uncommon side effects “ on the meds leaflets . Not something many people do before taking them . Usually side effects go away once the med is stopped . Unfortunately not the case for T .

Interesting how the brain can re point its focus. I obviously am not suggesting leg pain is good but glad you are able to put the tinnitus to one side whilst you are going through this.

Thank you . My brain is definitely re- focusing. Hope it stays that way when they "fix" my leg.

I agree. I was diagnosed with cancer 3 yrs ago and during my treatment didn’t focus on my T hardly ever. My cancer was consuming me with fright and fear. I was discharged 18 months ago from my consultant. This is helping me habituate.
