PULSATILE TINNITUS

I am an older guy and have had tinnitus for many years,it was off and on,mostly off,and it didnt damage my life in any major way.Lately it seems to have morphed into pulsatile tinnitus, with a 24/7 hissing noise that has damaged my life personally, socially and professionaly for the last few months.

I had a clean ct scan ,and my tinnitus seems now to be the subjective pulsatile ie a cardiologist was unable to hear any sound,They say with subjective pulsatile the rhythm should match that of my heatbeat. However,my heartbeat is around 60 and a personal heartbeat metronome measure is around 40,no match at all. So,what is going on,and mostly is it curable? It is destroying my life.

For medication I take two alprazolam pills daily(one mg) and a number of vitamins,of no significant help.I also wear hearing aids which offset any hearing loss but dont help my tinnitus. An ENT suggested that subjective tinnitus should go away by itself after 3-6 months,do you believe that is likely?

With deep appreciation that anyone can provide.

Thanks,

Joe

(CORRECTION)I need to correct an error in my last mail.I should note that the heartbeat was 60,but my TINNITUS RHYTHM was around 40 on a metronome.

I have had tinnitus for 23 years and pulsatilla T comes and goes, never any specific length of time. Sometimes days, sometimes longer. It always beats at same rate as my heart.I have hearings aids and they reduce

the volume of my tinnitus and many

In this group have mentioned it too.

Hope it settles down soon.
