Hi I'm new to this site .I have pulsatile tinnitus in left ear and hissing which feels like it's at the back of my head.I have had this for eleven weeks now.I believe it's from a neck injury but like so many other suffers GP is not really interested.Anyone else have this .

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum.

Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

I think a number of members also have pulsatile tinnitus.

We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

tinnitus.org.uk

/pulsatile-tinnitus

takeontinnitus.co.uk

Helpline 0800 018 0527 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) (outside the UK you can call +44 (0)114 250 9933)

There is another community called whooshers.com which is for people with pulsatile tinnitus, but that's not run by the BTA, so I don't know an awful lot about it these days but it appears to be active - it's US based.

Warmest wishes

Nic (BTA Communications Manager and Forum Administrator)

I had so many sessions and there was no any difference! Pulsating tinnitus has underlying cause so it is a bit tricky!

I have pulsatile tinnitus! Had it for nearly 10 years. Mine is a low whistle sound at the back of my head woo woo woo. I think it’s from being in labour I as left to push for way too long I think it caused damage to my veins or something. It’s a horrible thing.

Thank you for reply .This kind is hard to diagnose because it can be a blood vessel gone wrong.Have you been to a physio because your neck may be out of line and if corrected may ease noise.

Sometimes physio on your neck can make it worse so I’ve tried to stay away as I don’t want to make it worse. Yes I used to be part of whooshers but I deleted my Facebook account as I don’t like the rest of it so now I am not part of that group.

Just joined HealthUnlocked, I also had pulsatile tinnitus since Aug 17 plus sometimes like a buzzing sound mostly in the left ear. I've had what seems like a hissing sound in my left ear since 93 which I have coped with quite well. I am finding it harder to cope with the pulsatile and buzzing sounds as they are more distracting. I have noticed if I put a glass over the left ear I can almost make the pulsatile sound stop. Sometimes it sounds like it is in tune with the heartbeat, at other times it beats much faster than the heartbeat. Had an appointment one week ago at the ENT, had an hearing test, was told I had compacted wax which I refused to have syringed, going to have an MRI scan which I am very concerned about having because of the noise they make.
