I don't know much about vertigo, but a friend of mine who has it from time to time, has to sit it out and wait until it calms down. It can take up to two weeks for it to go. Another friend who had a sudden bout of vertigo went into hospital and they managed to control it for him, but it took three days nevertheless. You can check the Menieres Society website, as vertigo is a constant issue for those who suffer from menieres, so they might be able to give you more advice. I wish your dad luck.

My mother suffered with vertigo for much of her adult life. She had GP prescribed medication which eased it for her. I think you may be best to ask your dad's GP about treatment options.

Hi! I had vertigo associated with T some years ago. Doctors gave me Complex B and Betaserc( betahistine- in your country known as Serc, I think). I still take it after so many years.I also have Doppler for carotide arteries, almost every year.

Good health!

Hi! Yes, betahistine was good. I haven’t had a vertigo for 15 years. I ‘ve told you that I still take Betaserc for T. Although my T still exists, but I can cope. At the moment I take one day Betaserc and alternately, the next day Acouphenol (gingko biloba+ 2 plants for calming the nervous system) . This scheme was NOt given by any doctor. It was created by me. It works, Although T is still present.

Good health!

Hi I have suffered with vertigo for the last 2 years eventually my GP gave me betahistine 8mg 3 x daily. This worked for me straight away and I haven't had a vertigo episode for about 6 months now which is a huge relief. I didn't have an ear infection though. Your dad might want to talk to his GP as betahistine is used for menieres so it might help him take care.
