I'm new I need help

Three months ago my ear drum was destroyed while having my ear syringed.I've got possible nerve and bone damage too.

Since then tinnitus in my left ear is extreme. Sleeping is a joke and I get panic attacks. My tinnitus constantly changes pitch too so masking it with white noise doesn't work. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've had tinnitus before in my right ear for years and managed to deal with it.

But now this in my left ear is so bad

So sorry to hear this. I’ve had tinnitus for 12 years and the first initial months/years are hard but it honestly does get better. Who syringed your ear btw? That’s really bad. It should get better though but these things can take a while. I really would say keep busy and try and stay as positive as you can. Can you use headphones?

They don't work since my tinnitus changes pitch too much

Did you try a talking program . I get engrossed in what people are discussing. The music ones make mine worse.

I am so sorry you are going through this.... Acupuncture, CBT, Hearing aids, Gingko biloba?, used 1 a day for years the first time I had T, maybe it did work as eventually I didn't hear it . One other thing I used at night was a sound machine with a heartbeat sound . After about 15-20 minutes it did calm it down enough for me to sleep One problem is all our Ts are different so what works for one person may not help someone else. Keep looking , there is something out there for you .

That sounds so awful for you. Maybe you could ask to go to the ENT dept, I expect you’ve already been , but if not I think that’s your only hope of some ideas and help. We all muddle along with our issues and help ourselves by distracting our thoughts to going for long walks with our dogs etc. but you need professional help , sounds like someone has really done a bit of damage when using that syringe. Good luck to you.

I totally agree, I would be asking questions as to what happened, and qualifications etc… Ive heard of this happening so many times to patients…. I Have refused any micro suction, syringing …. Because of this…. I hope you get better soon

hi there. Try YouTube videos or app - Quieten - but Julian Cowen Hill.

He’s helped me enormously.

My tinnitus changes pitch so much videos like that don't help at all.

mine does to. But I think it’s worth pursuing as it cuts back on the fight or flight body system. It takes time but does work.

Best of luck.

After three months I can say that it doesn't. It just makes it worse and more intense

I think I would get back onto your GP and tell him/ her you want a prescription for Prednisilone. A steroid used to reduce inflammation. The quicker you can reduce the inflammation caused by the damage the better will be the outcome. Things will get better but it takes time.

My heart goes out to you I too had damage done to my left ear after having it shringed a few time,I heard what sounded like a shot gun going off in the ear followed by some loss of hearing which never came back and also things sound a bit strange in that ear it also increased the loudness of the tinnitus, that ear was the better of the tinnitus before that day,it does calm down sometimes, listening to rain noise used to help me a lot to get to sleep, you haft to find the right one that you are comfortable with, evan though my tinnitus is loud 24/7 i don't need any help with sleeping ,i hope other people on this site can give you more help and advice than I can all the best.
