Interesting. However, as more than one in ten of us in the world experience T there must inevitably be people whose T starts after a jab. And, getting Covid must be much worse!
I agree with Happyrosie, catching Covid would be much more serious.
To be honest I’m so concerned that it’s going to make mine worse that so far I’ve not taken the vaccine. 😖
Hi there,
The BTA has just published some information on this as we've had a lot of questions about it. You can read it here: tinnitus.org.uk/coronavirus...
I hope this helps!
On the other hand, my tinnitus completely disappeared for about 24 hours after my first Pfizer shot. Unfortunately it did come back, but oh what happiness I experienced for that one day. And no such luck with the second dose.
HiPG22, the same happened to me, mm this is interesting, ive just replied to someone on here telling them the same but did highlight we are all different I am wondering though if these arte the better ones for tinnitus sufferers as this, the moderna and the another one, work differently to the astrazeneca and as it happens are safer to use (blood clot issue).
Myself and my husband had the AstraZenaca vac on the 14th March. I have Tinnitus in both ears and it does fluctuate in loudness, always there though, so not sure if the vac had any effect on me. However my husband who is not a Tinnitus sufferer suddenly had ringing noises in his ears the day after having the jab (I said welcome to my world!). It had gone the next day. It seems there maybe a connection with the AstraZenaca vaccination as others have reported this as well.
Mine started couple of days after Astra Zeneca jab 13 March. I can't thank them enough for the life present given....
Sorry to hear about your experience. We are on the same boat. Lets hope it will go away with time...
Another reason why I won’t be getting it....
Me 😭😭. It spiked after an ear infection. I was finally habituating again, following a low sodium diet when I decided to have the COVID jab. It caused my T to spike and is very loud again. I have tried everything so far but is not getting any better. However I can still hope for an improvement , but I’m not having my second jab.
This is an interesting topic. I had my first AZ vaccine jab in March 2021, a couple of weeks later I started to suffer discomfort in my ears. They felt blocked. I actually went to my local surgery to have my ears checked as I thought it might be ear wax. Anyway my ears were not blocked, which I thought strange at the time. Anyway at some point in May I started to experience some T, not constant, it came and went. I have had T, briefly, in the past due to blocked ears so I didn't really think anything of it. Anyway, I forgot about it but then I had my second AZ jab at the beginning of June. Two weeks later I developed permanent T and I still have the uncomfortable feeling in my ears and motion sickness.Fast forward to today.... I am working through it, I still hopeful that one day it will all go away. I have had several ENT consultations with diagnosis of TMJ causing the ear disconfort, vestibule disorder causing the motuon sickness and the T a result of both (and perhaps stress). Medical treatment still ongoing. Hearing test normal for my age.
I am not saying my symptons are caused by the vaccine. I am not qualified to make that leap. But it is an intetesting coincidence. An ENT specislist brought it up and said it couldn't be ruled out, another thought it was nothing to do with the vaccine. Who knows, however with a number of similar cases I believe it does warrant investigsting.
Hello, newbie here - similar, no prior history of T - 2nd AZ in July , T started a week or so afterwards; no T after 1st. GP said no blocked ears so off to Consultant ENT who after testing, said he has been hearing similar queries on his ENT forum round the world from other professionals, but he clearly had little insight into how to respond specifically to vaccine induced T imho. Gave me Prednisone for 10 days - no effect. I declined an MRI as a waste of time. Using white noise and rain to get to sleep. Since the EMA subsequently pinged T as a side effect of the Janssen vaccine in Europe, it seems the evidence is in for the medical authorities in terms of linkage. Now personally heading into 2-3 months, little or no change. I hope that as the vaccine effects wear off, the T will subside. We'll see. Completely off but in a way , on topic - I fixed my rickety garden fence yesterday by banging in the nails with a hammer, onto the wooden uprights. Big mistake! I felt as if someone had hit me on the side of the head with a bag of cement - not having T before, I was unaware how sensitive the whole ear to brain system is, to loud noises. I am flying to Europe in a month - god knows what that will sound like. Be well.
