Hi Hamish4 I have had acupuncture over several weeks I did see my tinnitus reduce as soon as my session was over which lasted about a hour it was only noticeable for some half a hour to a hour I hope this helps but as tinnitus varies from other tinnitus sufferers your experience may be different. Hi Hamish, I tried acupuncture when first diagnosed 16 years ago. I have to say it was of no use whatsoever. The half hour treatment was very relaxing, but the acupuncture itself was a waste of time. If I can offer any advice at all , it is your mental strength you need to develop. There is no cure for T, so the next best thing is to ensure your mind is strong so you can cope with all that T will throw at you. Think of your T as a separate entity that you have to manage. If you develop your mental strength through yoga and mindfulness then your T is on its way to being beaten, otherwise your T will control you.....and that's the worst place to be .

Sending you strength for the future

Jane

I think it must be relaxing and that will help tinnitus to settle but not a permanent fix...lots of love glynis

Hello and welcome! Some people find that acupuncture helps - probably because it's relaxing (although I can't say the prospect is appealing myself!) but there's no independent evidence. If you are looking for "alternative" therapies to try, yoga, qi gong and tai chi have all been shown to be beneficial.

We have a couple of leaflets on our main website dealing with relaxation:

Do come back if you've any questions - and our helpline is available too on 0800 018 0527

Hamish I tried acupuncture and really just paid £48 for some little man to stick needles in me. Did nothing what so ever for my "T". Sorry.
