Hi Ian, like most T sufferers I'll try anything for an easier ride with this torture. I saw an acupuncturist, well qualified and recommended by people who had relief with other issues. He made no promises but said if it's going to help you'll know after two sessions. I didn't book a third.
Obviously you might have more success, so give it a shot, what have you got to lose.
Although it was of no help to me at the time, I hadn't worked out (and neither had any doctor) that I have Somatosensory tinnitus most likely caused by a neck issue.
Armed with this new information regarding a neck issue, which may give him a new target, I might give it another go.
I have tried acupuncture several times. It relieves the symptoms for a day or two.Try also acupressure with a shakti mat.It hurts at first but very relaxing after some 30 minutes.I suggest music therapy on a daily basis is the best remedy.Keep smiling. There will be a cure some day!
There's a thing! Acupuncture was a subject I posted about today. After the timing of your post. I was a young thing when the therapy came to the fore, and in the many decades since, Western medicine has kept it well away from the scientific acceptance that be. I would expect there's a reason for that - nobody knows exactly how it works. As for tinnitus, I've never come across any alleviation due to it.
Hi Ian I tried acupuncture for a few weeks and yes I do feel it helped me - but my advice is to ring around and find one that has seen people with tinnitus - this I did he was very good and it helped lots - good luck -
Hi Ian I had 3 sessions with high hopes for some relife , who was well qualified accunputurist. Very disappointing out come and costly. But it's one of those things , what might work for you didn't for me . It's a disabling condition , and no relief 😌. Like most people i will try any thing . If you suffer anxiety, your pretty much stuck with it. ..
Yes I have had success with the high pitched tinnitus with acupuncture as I understand this can be stress related. I noticed the difference after one treatment.
It cured my vertigo but sadly had no affect on my tinnitus but my symptoms are a result of an acoustic neuroma which not going to be the same cause of tinnitus you have. You would need an MRI for that diagnoses which took me a long time to convince the NHS I needed one.
yes , 20 odd years ago , spent roughly £900 . I was so desperate . Little chinese lady assured me that she had "cured " others. Gave up , it didnt work . Funny though I am thinking of trying it again. There was one day when I though it had quietened down for a few days . I told her ,but she never needled the same bit( in my foot) again!! Guess I'm not so traumatized by T this time . I did some research , it does seem to help some people. Perhaps it depends on the acupuncturist, where/ what the problem is and if they are only after more money. Maybe do some research and read local reviews .
Tried it at the start of my T - oh 15 years ago but don’t recall it did much?? Anyway funnily enough I’ve recently given it another go again - and have had two treatments thus far? However I haven’t noticed anything as yet?? I also receive a top of the back / neck / and partial head massage too just before he sticks the pins in me. I’ll give it a few more sessions and then report back, but I’m not holding out if I’m being honest, but you never know.
As I exercise a lot I use Acupuncture to relief tense muscles and help with elbow issues. It does work on relieving muscle tension and helps reduce headaches when this had built up in neck and shoulders (I find anyway). But no impact on T.
