Anti TPO

My blood test for AntiTPO was 18.0 iu/Ml (0.0-30.0)

does this mean that there are antibodies happening and combined with my increasing TSH now 2.7 and all my symptoms - can this possibly point to thyroid issues?

Still await t3 and pituitory results.

Thanks

Bear in mind that antiTPO levels can be several hundred - so 18 and only just above the middle of the range that is regarded as 'negative' does not seem to indicate an autoimmune thyroid disorder.

However this does not prove that you do not have a thyroid disorder - not even that you don't have an autoimmune thyroid disorder - merely fails to provide evidence that you have.

May I ask exactly what other tests are you waiting for? Is that a free T3 test? And what pituitary test?

Hi Rod,

I think it was a T3 and the one that tests if the pituitory is sending the right signals - these should be back today so I will post them on here.

Hi Stacey, Thyroid UK believes that people should have all the thyroid tests done. It appears that you have not had FT4 done but that you are waiting for the FT3.

Your TPO result is negative as you only have 18. If it goes above 30, then you will be deemed to have thyroid antibodies and your doc may treat you as there is evidence that treatment will stop full blown hypothyroidism.

It might be an idea to check your iron, ferritin, B12 and D3 levels.

Hi Lynn,

I have had my results back - no T3 was done - but the results say - Pituitary TFT TSH 1.80 (0.35-5.5) and Free T4 11.1 (10-19.8)

??? So not sure really.

I am going to have to have the T3 done privately.

I have been put on a trial of thyroxine 25mg for 3 months by my GP.

Thanks

Stacey

Hi Stacey, Your TSH is normal but your FT4 is very low in the range. It would definitely be an idea to check your iron and ferritin levels. Great that your doc has put you onto thyroxine for three months. Make sure you keep a diary of your symptoms and rate them on a scale of 1-10. Try and do it with your symptoms before you went onto thyroxine and then you have a good comparison to show your doc - kind of evidence!
