I have found a NHS/Private endocrinologist in Hull (about 30 mins from where I live) so obviously I am considering making a visit (subject to GP referral of course) However, I have not heard of him before, and simply wondered if anyone on here had any experience of this doctor?
Thanks

Oops will 're word, what I really need to know is, does this doctor stick to treating patients only out of the suggested reference ranges, or does he treat the symptoms and family history too
I was referred to him but privately only. He was really good listened to you and your concerns and treated me accordingly. I have a family history of the illness. Sadly Bupa said that I couldn't continue seeing him and stopped funding so I ended up back through the NHS and I've never seen him again just end up at the Brocklehurst clinic and see someone different every time I go.
What's the point of having medical funding then? Grrr makes me so cross. I have a small 'family' medical policy which I think affords me a private consultation but not much more, will soon see lol.
So , if you dont mind me asking, where your TSH T3/T4 results bad enough to warrant GP help, or were they 'just within ranges' so you HAD to look elsewhere for help?
I saw my GP who thought I had thyroid issues and had a blood test. I went back to see him for the results but he was ill so it was a locum I saw. He was useless, I was relieved that I took my husband as the locum said I was sub clinical and to review in 6mths. I burst in to tears & said I can't wait that long as I can't cope anymore. My husband told the locum I have Bupa cover that changed everything. He wrote a referral and within 48 hrs I was in Steve Atkins office who told me that if I had of left it 6 mths I could have been dead in that time!
