Just had bloods tested for thyroid function. Haven't taken any meds for months. They came back "normal". Apparently been hypo for about 6yrs. Why, all of a sudden, should tests come back normal?

did you get your exact blood test results or did they just say "normal"?
Have you been changing your diet and exercise? My meds are down 15 mcgs now, because of changes I am making to heal my body.
Hello, What was the reason that tests were taken on this occasion? Do you have symptoms?

A new doctor was appointed after i complained about my last one. He did a battery of tests, including thyroid and all came back ok.
Some dietry changes and about the same with exercise
Looked back a bit and you're losing weight?
I can't advise, just wondered if you'd had an antibody test, is it def Hypo? As ENT doc wasn't sure if my raised antibodies indicated Hashimotos or Graves (my symptoms are hypo and have put on 2 stone since Partial thyroid op) we're all different, but you do get ups and downs with Hashis.
Receptionist said 'normal' no numbers (apparently they can't give out exact info without doc approval - depends who I talk to 'tho) - but I said I'd come in an get a printout - which she said was fine (I'm taking it with me to ENT appointment). So you must get the actual numbers, and you are entitled to get them, in 'normal' range doesn't mean optimal or you feel any better. Jane
Yes, my first TSH test came back in the 30s, then one later was 5ish on no meds. I think the levels fluctuate but the tests are done relatively infrequently so fluctuations are kind of seen in a vacuum if that makes any sense. It's just a snapshot of a moment in time.
I was diagnosed as hypo when in hospital. I've never been told exactly what results are and never asked. They make me feel so pathetic. They dont seem interested looking further into anything, either. I'm so tired of being brushed under the rug but i dont have the energy to keep going. This site has been so helpful in making me understand most of condition and i thank everyone involved for their support and advice. I really dont know where to go from here.
My TSH has reduced since taking more exercise, eating healthy food rather than rubbish and resting when I am tired.
I eat alot of fish, potatoes, lettuce and occasionally rice. I must admit that i do like crisps and biscuits. I only drink bottled water and occasionally diluting juice. Maybe my TSH has evened off due to that, i dont know. My diet, for yrs, was up and down due to feeling ill all the time. I rest alot once everything i need to do is done. Got no-one else to do it for me. I'm still concerned, knowing that hypothyroidism is s'posed to be lifelong, that i may plummit again and not get back up this time.
