I am a sufferer with Hypothyrodism and am trying to get some better health by researching stuff myself. G.Ps in my experience just do not want to know, I feel they look at me as just another neurotic women.

I am hearing a lot about Maca supplament for balancing hormone levels, has anyone got any info they would like share on it. Improvement with
I knew nothing about Maca nor why you might be posting about that rather than any of the hundreds, probably thousands, of other supplements.
So I looked here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lepid...
There is specific mention of the root colour and iodine content. So I imagine that is why it is being promoted.
Do be very careful about iodine - some people claim it is wonderful; others that is very bad to take except with proved iodine deficiency. I still have not made my mind up but would be very wary of taking any as a supplement (i.e. I am happy with what I get in my diet).

Please persist with your Doctor, insist that you want a referral to a thyroid endocrinologist.
Take a look on www,drfoster.co.uk and search for endocrinologist who specialises in thyroid. Or search for hospitals on here, some people have reviewed there local hospitals, take a peek at that if your still unsure.
Then go to your GP surgery and ask for a referral, they cannot refuse you.
Dont try to put things right yourself, I was like you this time last year, suffering dreadfully my medication just was not working for me any more, thankfully I have a smashing endo who is an absolute joy to see, I have also seen an obnoxious man whom called himself an endo, who told me to look at my home life, the cheek! I do hope this helps, much better than trying to cure yourself, Best wishes Caroline xx
