Any opinions on my blood test results? Endo. appt. next week....

Hi everyone,

My recent blood tests show the following:

Serum free T4 level = 18.0 (12-22 U)

Serum TSH level = 1.82 (0.4-4.0 U)

I can't seem to find anything else particularly relevant on the printout I asked for but am just wondering what anyone thinks?

I had a complete thyroidectomy some years ago but have very bad skin (seems to be a follicular/acne-type problem everywhere), weight gain, aches and pains; especially along the tibia bones and am tied on and off. I have been on 175mcg Levo. which was increased to that level last year.

Any thought before the endo. appt. are very welcome.

Thank you :-)

I would want to see vitamin D tested.

And vitamin B12 and folates.

And iron/ferritin.

Thank you for replying :-) I take mulit-vitamins + iron, selenium, zinc and omega 3 oils admit to feeling better but the weight gain is still an issue and so are the aches and pains and my skin is awful; acne-type boil things everywhere. Attractive - NOT.

Hi Endo should test for all the normal things associated with thyroid , if good! Also he/she should do a Free T3 test but if possible try and get one done before as it could prove useful in endo`s treatment plan.

Best wishes.,

Hi... I tried asking my GP for a free T3 but they didn't/wouldn't do it. I will mention this at my appt. with the endo. though.... thank you :-)

Ok.... I've now had my Endo. appt. and he has suggested for my GP to prescribe Liothyronine 20 mcg; to be split in half and taken twice daily. One half in the morning and one at lunchtime, so that it doesn't stop me sleeping (pharmacist said). It also means that my Levo is reduced from 175mcg to 75mcg.... Blimey, this is going to take a while to get used to!!

Has anyine had any experience of changing their meds like this? :-/

Can I suggest posting a new question - comments can get missed. :)
