The more I reduced levo the better I became with the addition of T3.
Hi Samantha, Am I right in thinking Sertraline is an antidepressant? I was put on that for post traumatic stress/depression a few years back and I couldn't tolerate it. Do you still need to be on this medication? I read something by MIND that the combination of antidepressants and Levo can cause awful side effects. Also I have to take other prescription drugs, I make sure I leave 4 hours clear between levo etc and other drugs. If you don't it can affect absorption. Are you taking Levo on an empty stomach and not even having a cuppa with milk for an hour? XX
Yes sertraline is an anti depressant, I have been on it for 6 years, I was on 200mg, however I have been cutting it down and am now on 100mg but feel I should put it up again!
I have read on here that sertraline & Levo do not go well together, however, sertraline is the only anti-depressant that has seemed to work for me!
I usually take all my tablets at the one time, I put all 8 in my hand and swallow them all at the same time, if I don't do it this way I forget to take them all. I have been on thyroxine now for over 30 years, I am demented.com
Hi Again Samantha, Don't you have one of those pill containers with times and days of the week? I would be so lost without mine! I can't help thinking that you're not getting the best out of any of your meds taking them together. Why don't you give this a go, leaving the 4 hour gap?. Is your depression thyroid related? If you still feel C*** after 30 years I think that would cause anyone depression. Do you have regular reviews with your doc? What I do is keep my levo and ndt in my bedside table so I can take it the minute I wake. An hour later breakfast. Then about 12pm I take the first lot of my prescription meds. Then my supplements mid afternoon, second lot of prescription meds around 4.30, 9pm evening meds. It seemed impossible fitting it all in at first, but I'm definitely in a good routine now. I find having the pill container for the week helps me know when I need a repeat prescription too.
I see my GP who is very supportive, but again only a GP and I see Dr Skinner as well privately, no the depression is not thyroid related, my son died bla bla etc and I get very stressed so the sertraline really help. I will look into taking the meds seperatley so will need to work out what to take and when, thanks x
Hi Samantha, Your poor boy, so hard for you to deal with, I totally understand where your depression is from. Sending you a huge hug. XXX
