How is your vitamin D level? Have you had it tested? Low vitamin D can have quite an imact on mood for some people.

And are you on the right does of thyroid medication, because if you're not, then supplements will be less useful. Can you tell us your most recent thyroid test results and medication dose?

It is like hitting my head against a brick wall with Dr/consultant local/St Barts......... I have a mega long story 4yr ago...but my serum Vitamin D was boarder line 73 Anti Thyroid on the high side... Anemia... (gave me 60mg iron a day.... 3months in.... I felt I was being poisioned..... (turned out I was!!!!) Ferratin - low side. I weekly take Dekrsitol now and have for 2yrs. I have low ferratin and low B12... I am on 100mcg Levo...tried combination therapy...felt dreadful after 2wks...nr suicidal :-(. Mega brain fog...low mood... just want to sit around all day.. I have been shouting for nearly 4yrs...that they are missing things with me...I had a mega bleed while having my daughter.... 2000mls in 20 mins... then diagnosed postpartrum thyroid... breast feeding was difficult...not producing enough ay 4mnths in...then mega flu symptoms....feet not working up and down stairs...mega weight loss..not being able to get up and down from the floor...given propranlol.... then 1mnth later...felt mega mega bad again...my thyroid flipped to hypo... which is where it stayed...but mega symptoms...black patches on knees and feet.. no underarm hair.... ACT Test came back normal... then I had realised I had not had a period since my before having my daughter..had lots of trial meds... oral from Gyne..then conti patches...after shouting and saying I had concerns about oestrogens affecting Levo.... I was ignored... this has to all be linked to the bleed and thyroid age 43..I do not have symptoms of menopause..but went with the flow.... 2weeks ago (4yrs) later... a bleed on conti HRT treatment- been on for 7months...eveyone is now in panic mode... scan monday...as bleed when I wee and mega ovary type pains.... ;-(.. I have been instructed to come off patches....straigtht away..... since last Tuesday...no side effects of coming off them.... does that not say anything!!!!

HELP....

Goodness, so sorry you're in such a mess :( You mentioned low B12. Is this being followed up? If not, I would definitely be pursuing that one, as this can have major impact on brain function, as well as all sorts of other symptoms. Lots of info on this site to start you off with research if you haven't looked into this yet

We're not medical experts here, just patients. We have collectively lots of knowledge and understanding of thyroid and related things though, so do post your thyroid test results asap. They just might provide some clues.

Hi My endo says the best multi vitamin and mineral are essential. As said all the tests especially vit D as hormonal. Make sure you have had TSH, T4 and Free T3 tested as all essential for proper diagnosis, certainly sounds as if you are undertreated. Make sure you have the results + ranges and it may mean paying for the FT3 test which is vital.

Best wishes,

Jackie
