got a call yesterday to go in for more bloods, as my results have been looked at again, and the GP is not happy with some of the results and want them repeating...
mmmmm when I saw him a couple of weeks ago, he had supposedly re-checked them, went through them again in front of me and hubby, and decided that they did not warrant me a second opinion, nor was there anything untoward going on.
So why the turnaround??
So after fasting, I have just been and had them done. They are doing
Coeliac Screen (STTG)
prev (IgA TTG)
Bone Profile
Full Blood Count
Glucose (fasting)
Liver Function Profile
Lipid Profile (fasting)
TSH not on T4
Urea/Electroytes
I really feel I am supporting the local Vampire population!!!
Any thoughts???

Hi, Coeliac screening obvious,All the others fairly standard. bone profile calcium , it is the corrected calcium that matters, must always be in range A vit D would also be good..FBC, good tells a lot of things, infection ( although the not best test for that ), low ferritin ( better more specific test ), blood count ( red cells). It does not include B12 and Folic acid,( penitious anaemia ) Glucose, diabetes but bettet test is Hb1ac,LFT ( liver function ) always useful but often does not show liver problems, can also show diabetes. Urea and electrolytes which is U`s and E` s, kidney function which is a very good basic test. often done.Shows lots of things, Potassium must be well in range ( electrolyte ) and sodium ( salt ) also electrolyte. other important one is GFR, no ranges , if above 60 OK higher even better. A very good test for lots of things.Sorry, Lipid is cholesterol, can be high if thyroid disease , before treatment, and of course, other reasons.Tsh not a lot of use , you need T4 nd Free T3 to see how your thyroid is., cost cutting!. Make sure you ask for all these print outs with ranges. Most vary at different labs , not just the thyroid tests. All together, routine tests and good to have.
Hi Ann, Because it says that is what it is! it is not fool proof though, some people are Caeliac and the test does not show it. Also you must not eat gluten free for the 2 weeks before the test.I imagine the original test 1ga was out and they are doing the STTG to check the endocrine system for disruptions, I imagine just a doctor being very thorough It may be something that matters but most likely just being careful. it is an unusual test, but I would not worry at the moment. if bad news you will hear quick enough, good they are being careful.
Hi Jackie, there is no fear of me going gluten free, as I didnt have time to prepare for the tests lol
I am wondering which doc has requested them, as my GP was sure that my previous bloods that were on the system, were all within normal limits and did not warrant the second opinion that I wanted from another endo.
Ann, Thy are only indirectly connected to the thyroid so, he may think it is something else!I think he is hedging his bets! however, all very useful tests, you will need all the ranges as they can vary .like the thyroid tests between Labs., it depends on the assay.
I would go armed with a list of your problems! however, some docs touchy about the WEB so I find better not to quote it!
