I'm Hyperthoid and waiting for surgery for thryoid removal. I started on Propranolol 160mg last Friday and by Sunday could not stay awake. I work full time and made the decision to stop taking the meds. Monday morning and I'm wide awake.
Has anyone else has this problem?

I am hypothyroid and have been taking 2.5mg of propranolol for a while now. That dose you are on would wipe me out for sure. I struggled on my prescription to start with and that's way lower. It is a side affect of propranolol as it slows the heart rate down. I would go back to my doctor and tell him how it made you feel. Best of luck.
Hi I could not take propranolol for various reasons, I have a different beta Blocker, propranolol is the cheapest , so used first. ( it also puts on weight)there are various more expensive ones, I have no problem with Nebiviolol. Any Betas Blocker should only be taken after the thyroid test, on that morning, as it gives a false blood result.
when I was first diagnosed with Hyperthyroid they put me on it. I thought I was dying I couldn't get out of bed and when I did I fell asleep again. I stopped taking it and when I seen the Endo he told me to stay of them completely.
I was fine after that and able to work full time .
