Heat tolarance

Hi got under active thyroid on levo 100/50mg still getting really hot the minute i start doing anything i work in a carehome where they have heating on 24/7 which dosent help just making me feel worse any suggestions please.

God it's so annoying isn't it! I work in a school and battle the awful feelings of unbearable heat most days. My face seems to burn with heat and It overwhelms me. I don't know about you but it sometimes makes me feel quite unwell.

Like you I am trying to find coping strategies as I have a very physical job. I wish there was an answer as I am fed up with it. I'm sure you have tried all the usual things as I have. I am hypo and on 75mg levothyroxine.

I do have an enormous fan at work and when I feel the heat coming on I just stand in front of it! Not much help when you are busy though.

Maybe we need iced underwear lol!

yes i know what you mean but dont think we can go anything about it i just head for a open window because i think im going to pass out.

Forgot to say i always thought you were suppose to be cold when you are under active and hot when you are over active dont think it works like that just dont understand how the thyroid works.Because if that was the case your doseage would be dropped not increased.im just waiting on blood results GP is phoning me tomorrow shes already on about increasing.

I'm cold most of the time, but when I move around I seem to get warmer than necessary.

My thyroid hormones were right at the top of the range when last tested too... I think that's why when my metabolism is switched on it works almost too well... unfortunately most of the time it seems to be switched off.

Yes it's an odd one isn't it. I started the menopause at 48 and suffered the whole heat thing until I was about 54. I had suffered awful hot flushes but the feeling I have now is definitely different. I have been known to put a jumper on and then a coat get to the front door to go out and just have to quickly strip everything off its that bad!

I meant to add that when relaxing I often can be seen cuddling my friend the hot water bottle as I can get shivery. This is then interspersed with the heat thing. Also when I wake in the morning I actually shiver and my teeth chatter but by the time I go and make a cuppa my face is burning!!!!!!

I give up lol!!!!

Thats how i feel in the morning cold just getting changed in the morning makes me hot heating on and of all the time hair wringing wet had blood test done came back post menopausal had coil taken out abt 4weeks ago thinking it was that,bloatings now gone feeling abit better.by the way im 48.

I swear to god I'm coming back as a man or a pampered cat in my next life lol! When we had the cold snap a few weeks ago I actually turned the heating off in my bedroom flung open the windows and all because I was drying my hair! It's a very strange mixed up disease isn't it.

Yes can relate to that was going to put my bikini on last year got that hot lol. Only thing was getting cold after cold coz didnt know what my body temperature was oh well soon be summer.

I had bad night sweats whilst on levothyroxine and hot flushes - not menapausal.

So its to do with levothyroxine thats causing the sweats?

Well, it did for me but I cannot say for sure its the cause of other people's as we are different. It also caused me to have bad palpitations and tachycardia. Went as soon as I stopped.

Not necessarily. I've been off all medication for some time and still continue to get overheated - see my question of a couple of days ago.

Yes me too, I woke up just last night my feet was on fire lol I can flick form being freezing to very hot. not good xx
