Hi I do - I actually thought I had an overactive thyroid, because everything I heard stated I should be cold not hot - I wish!

So I am not too happy about the hot weather here in the UK atm.

Anyway, I try to save my jobs until a cooler time of the day if possible.

If sitting, I use a desk fan/portable fan.

Fan on when sleeping.

When home I keep my blinds shut, which keeps the house cooler.

Drink lots.

Avoid going outside at the hottest time of the day if I can.

Cool showers/cold water on wrists.

In spite of all these, I am a sweaty mess, especially at work!

Sorry these suggestions aren't exactly original.

Good luck!

I hate the heat, I have Fibro as well as underactive thyroid and I'm sure I have autonomic dysfunction. My internal thermostat must be kaput as I'm freezing cold in winter and boiling hot and sweaty during the summer, even when its not that hot.

I dont glow,I sweat. I dont seem to have a even temperature like a normal person. If I was a gas boiler I'd be condemned. I'd like to emigrate to the Shetland Isles.

Don't forget that you need salt when it's hot to replace the salt you lose by sweating.

We had a family holiday in France with caravan & tent many years ago. My father (a doctor) got us all to drink salt water each morning. It's so easily forgotten.

An ice pack wrapped in a dish towel, placed strategically. Back of neck etc. Find your helpful spot. I don’t work so I can sit with it. However there are occasions I have to be a bit cleverer by devising ‘systems’ of hiding it. A home made pouch which I can hang around my neck but under clothing.

Definitely me! I’m hypo but cannot stand the heat. I can’t function. Feels like my head will implode. I get migraines too, so am extra wary.

I close all doors, windows and curtains (sunny windows for curtains) from about 11am. I stay indoors if I can between 11 and 6. Not easy. But I am lucky that I don’t work full time. (Or am I? I couldn’t work full time even if I had to) I’ve done an hour in our home office this morning. Anything else can wait.

I have a smallish wheat filled heat pad that I keep in the freezer. That can be placed anywhere on me to cool me down. Obviously plenty of water. And the odd snack like salted pretzels or scrambled eggs with salt n pepper for lunch help keep me hydrated.

They say milk is hydrating, but I don’t have dairy, maybe you do.

At night I have a frozen ice block (like you’d put in a cool bag) wrapped in a towel and I sleep with it on my chest, back or neck. If it’s very hot I get the frozen wheat pad during the night too.

I am concerned about next summer when I’ll be looking after my little grandson for my daughter. But my older grandson (nearly 4), knows I can’t cope in the sun. He rarely asks to go out with me and if he does he brings me my sun hat and says “here you are grandma, you can go in the garden now” 🥰

Last night I had the fan on whilst watching tv (doors open too) - my feet and lower legs were freezing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi lovecake, yes I get the same headaches when it’s hot and just don’t function well at all!! I’m not working also as I’m a full time mum to my 11 month old. Yes I have the fan on me constantly but sometimes feel chilly with it on but as soon as I turn off I feel like I’m melting again!! Roll on winter altho I have heard that’s a hard time too for under active thyroid too.

After a lifetime of feeling the cold I did suffer intolerance to heat and cold when dx hypothyroid - but as this was only a few years after breast cancer treatment and menopause with terrible hot flushes, it was hard to know the cause.

Now that I’m optimally treated and menopause is further away I’m much better with the cold and the heat, but I still feel terrible if I go from outside to indoors where there’s no movement of air. I generally have to go back outside for a bit to acclimatise more gradually.

I have become increasingly intolerant of heat such that I now dread hot weather. The high humidity makes it even worse, and I feel very ill. I find I can’t breathe properly. I wish I knew a solution. It’s so debilitating. I sweat profusely and find myself showering several times a day.

Have been tempted to go for a drive and use the AC in the car🙄! One tip is to find a shop with air conditioning, and hang out there for a while.
