palpitations / breathless: hi all since being... - Thyroid UK
palpitations / breathless
Hi Kimbo, If you have any of your test results ( which lab ranges) that you could post it might give someone on here a clue about whether your medicated enough / too much, so that they could advise more.... From a personal point of view I was very breathless before I was diagnosed with Graves and couldn't take more than three steps up the stairs before running out of air.. and then again 3 years later when I went Hypo I just felt like I was walking through treacle!!!..
There is a section on stopthethyroidmadness.com which has a bit about anxiety ( link below)
stopthethyroidmadness.com/t...
Which might be of interest.. I too was offered anti-depressants which were of no help at all as it wasn't my brain that wasn't working it was my thyroid!!!! as soon as my meds were any where near sorted I began to feel more like a human being..
Hope this helps even a little keep smiling and posting questions someone somewhere might just have the answers.

Can't help, but just to say that I also suffer with breathlessness and have recently been advised by an endo that this is not a hypoT symptom! I do still try to exercise but stop when the breathlessness gets too bad. I am exhausted most of the time and suffer more if I don't get out in the fresh air reguarly, it's almost like a drug to me. I don't suffer with palpitations but have noise and light sensitivity.
When I became breathless for no apparent reason last year, my GP diagnosed asthma and has treated it as such. I am now taking Clenil Modulite, a steroid inhaler twice a day and Ventolin if the breathlessness gets too bad. They both help and control the condition well, but I am once again wondering if this was the correct diagnosis. If your breathlessness is as bad as you say, it may be worth your asking for Ventolin as I found this extremely useful. It just opens the chest up to allow you to breathe normally and I find that I don't even need to take the full dose to have this relief. I also took a "depression" questionnaire earlier this year when things got to me a little more than usual and with a score of 17 was found to be "severely depressed" and was promptly sent home with the appropriate anti-depressants, which I've not even bothered to open! Am very quickly losing faith in the medical profession altogether!
hi thanks to you all for your comments, yes the breathing side is not nice and the palpitations even worse, the gp have put it down as anxiety but i know for sure that it has something to do with being hypo as before i had this i was fine and ran around like a spring chicken (not anymore though) even the smallest walk and i an exhausted, i too have lost faith and am looking to go private soon to see if i can get some help xx
